I’m interested in a good engineering school like Michigan’s, but then I heard of Michigan’s engineering which is also considered top-notch. What do you guys think in terms of academics? Michigan or Michigan?

Actually UM has been at this level since the late 1800’s when colleges first became serious about research and academics. Look at the founders of the AAU.
