I just found out my school’s mid year includes comments. Is that for everyone? Is there any way I could request for it not to be included? For AP chem, I didn’t have the best comments… How much will it hurt me?
There is not a requirement that the mid-year include new comments, but even the form mid-year report used with the Common Application allows the counselor to add new comments about the applicant if he wants to, see, e.g., http://admissions.duke.edu/images/uploads/process/midyear_report.pdf. It sounds like you have an issue that is one between you and your high school as to whether it will remove comments, and you will need to make a request for removal with the high school. If you are asking whether you can actually force the high school to remove comments if it rejects your request to do so, the answer is likley not absent your school district having a procedure for pursuing such a remedy.
