Middlebury Language Programs

Most people apply for a foreign language in middlebury summer program, but as a chinese native speaker, I am thinking of attending the Chinese MA program to prepare myself to become a Chinese teacher. Also, I might have to come back and forth from China to Middlebury every summer, and it might be a little costy.

I read a lot on the website and am sure that the summer program in Middlebury is very good. But my situation is quite diffrent from most of people, so i hope anyone see this give my some advice on if it’s a good idea for me to do so. And do you think I can make it a chinese teacher in US or Cananda after the program? I’d really apprecite your answers.

As an international student, you will most likely have to go back to China after your studies in the U.S. (Unless you marry a citizen or win a Green Card.) While it’s possible you could get a job here, it’s not something you should count on.

In general, I find it strange for a Chinese native speaker to be coming to the U.S. to get an MA in… Chinese. I’d love to hear what others think about this idea – but to me it seems odd and impractical, and very expensive.
