Midyear Report Question

Are we supposed to put a numerical grade? or just A, B, C, D, F?

also, sorry to hijack your thread. it only says semester grades, but my school runs on quarters.what to do what to do?

CNI - I think they want letter grades.

beefs - you could enter your quarter grades, and then make a note of what they indicate on the additional information area.

Also - see Natalie’s thread on the same topic - it appears my advice is correct  - this time, anyway.

Do we have to give + / -?

Also, for deferred applicants, where should we continue to express our interest?

Give them +/- if it fits in the form.
DO NOT LIE- they get your final transcript.

what does a +/- constitute? Say I have a 91, and an A is a 93, does that count as a B or B+?

How do your grades appear in your transcript?

Numbers. 10 chars

Yeah, I only have letters on my transcript.

When it asks for the maximum possible GPA, should I put 5.0 because AP classes are weighted as 5.0s? I guess this is the obvious way to do it, but it just seems weird to me.

^Same. In my school, if you took all AP courses and got A+s in all of them you’d have a 5.3, but that’s not possible… you can’t take all AP courses. Is 5.3 still the max GPA?

You should probably talk to your GC about that. Anyway, back to my original question, what should I put (numerical or letter grades) on my midyear report if my transcript only shows numerical ones?

just dont put anything.it gives you that option.

beefs, are you answering my question or CNI’s?

I think you could put numerical OR letter. I’m putting down what’s on the transcript.

well, to be honest idn why they want my gpa again. my gpa doesnt change until the end of every year; its not updated every quarter/semester/.

what exactly does “term” mean. do I just put fall?

CNI

Yes, enter your grade as it is listed on your transcript.

JohnC

Yes.

Beefs

“well, to be honest idn why they want my gpa again. my gpa doesnt change until the end of every year; its not updated every quarter/semester/.”

Some schools do update GPA at the end of every term. As you can see from this thread, there is a remarkable variety of grading structures in use.

ohiomom, this is really nitpicky but which grade should i put down if i have a grade for first quarter (sept - nov) and a grade for second quarter (nov - jan)?

verbivorous,
doesn’t your report card have your semester average? that’s what i would put down.
say if you got an A first quarter, B second quarter, and then an A on the exam, your semester average would be an A.
