<p>How do boarding schools handle kids missing the occassional day of school? Our local school works very well with the elite athletes to allow them to attend their competitions and make up all work. Will a boarding school allow a few missed days (like 5-8 depending on how the competitions match up with the school holidays)??</p>

<p>Loomis Chaffee had an article on their website about a Chinese American freshman girls varsity hockey player who went to Canada this past winter to try out (by invitation) for the Chinese national team as a non-resident team member. She ultimately was selected to be part of Team China, and is looking ahead to the 2014 Olympics. </p>
