Mistake in reporting number of hours on EC, worth it to email colleges?

Hi! In December I submitted all my college applications, and for one of my ECs I realized that I misreported my hours: I studied abroad over the summer and put “24hrs” under hours per week because someone had suggested it, and now I realized that that’s completely wrong because I had been thinking “hours per day” and not “per week.” Is it worth it to email colleges and correct the mistake? Or would they understand why I made it and not put too much importance on it?

(either way, if I added up all my classroom language time, tutoring time, etc, it’d come out to closer to 42hrs a week. Although, I did live with a host family and constantly speak with them in a foreign language…)

Thanks!

I don’t believe a follow up here is necessary. Hours for ECs are a rough proxy of your engagement in the activity, and study abroad isn’t really equivalent to most ECs in that way. I don’t believe anybody is likely to pay attention to this.

Good luck!

Agree that it’s not worth correcting. If it was clearly indicated that it was a study abroad program, the AO will understand what that means, especially if you mention things like living with a host family in your description. They will likely assume that you used 24 hours to indicate hours of formal class time per week - which is a reason number of hours for that. They will understand that outside of that class time you were also being culturally and linguistically immersed.
