<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I am a freshman in high school currently. I am taking this online mit course currently.</p>

<p>I am relatively new to programming. This class is my first introduction to programming. Is this a good class? Also, I am very interested in artificial intelligence and would like to create a chess engine this summer. Would that be possible with the knowledge I acquire from this class? Also I want to do a research project in artificial intelligence and enter it in the siemens competition and intel isef. How would I be able to do this? Am I on the right track and how would I be able to learn about artificial intelligence?</p>

<p>You won’t be able to do AI programming after just an introductory class.</p>

<p>I’d look at different curricula for CS programs, see if they offer an AI class, and then see what the prerequisites are. You’ll probably have to take three or four programming classes before you’re ready for AI.</p>

<p>6.00 is merely an introduction to Python…it’s a good start if you’re new to programming but you probably won’t be able to design AI after one class.</p>

<p>Other classes you might want to look up are 6.01 (Intro to EECS), 6.006 (Intro to Algorithms), and 6.034 (Artificial Intelligence).</p>
