MITES 2009 Information and Discussion

I know that last year they called people, especially for fly-ins. Do you think they would do that this year?

@blackrose: I hope not. I don’t know how I would respond to a rejection or fly-in by phone. They should call all the acceptees though, it would be faster and entertaining for the deliverer of news, they’d probably crack up at some of the reactions.

Ansar, what school in Miami do you go to?

checked the mail today, still nothing. I live in Texas so I’m kind of worried now since pretty much everyone else from Texas has already recieved their letters. :/

Why don’t they just send e-mails in addition to the letters…?

I think they do flyins by express mail too, at least thats what happened for TerrenceC.
Do you think they sent out the acceptance letters on different days? Because someone who was accepted said that the letter was sent on April 3rd. It shouldn’t be taking this long since its express mail…hmm…this is very confusing.

I got in!!

@gt_emhs

What state are you from?

congrats gt_emhs! and everyone else who has been accepted so far :D

indiana. it came express 2 days ago. has anyone else gotten in?

Congratz to everyone who got accepted! I hope we get our letters soon too. I wish they would just send it. Even if it was a rejection letter I just wish they’d say something already so I can get on with my life. I barely did any homework these two days when I read that people got accepted because I kept looking at CC, email, and their website

yeah I’ve been doing the exact same thing hypsmc. I hope we all hear from them soon

Sorry to burst your bubbles to all those who hasn’t received a letter…
I’m afraid you guys are just waiting for a rejection letter now.
It seems like all those who have been accepted has already received an EXPRESS MAIL packet about two days ago. No matter where you live, be it Maine or California, if MIT has sent acceptance notice by express mail, it should have arrived by now.
Some people still have hope because “Oh, another CCer in CA hasn’t received anything either, so there’s still a chance!”
Well, only a small fraction of MITES applicants are on CC, so there’s a great chance that someone in CA who doesn’t have a CC account already got accepted to MITES.
I suggest you stop moaning on CC looking for clues/tips, and just do your homework.

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured introvert. I’ve already made peace with the fact that I’ve probably been rejected, I’d just like to see it in writing already.

@introvert
when I first read your post I was kinda mad and thought “well, who does he think he is?!” (or she:P) but then I realized you were completly right. I’m not getting an acceptance letter (no matter how hard I was hoping for one) so I should get off CC and get back to my studies. So thanks for the reality check

same with me petri21,
i think i sent an express mail to MITES back in February, and it only took 4 days :frowning:
maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. congrats to all those accepted-hope you all have a blast.to everyone else, you guys are all such nice and talented people, i’m sure you will all end up doing amazing things. i wish you all the best of luck next year, when it really counts. peace.

@HYPSMC-NOT!

I apologize if I sounded harsh. Hey, you never know. I may be wrong. You’re not officially rejected until you get it in writing. Who knows, you might find a giant packet waiting for you tomorrow. Best of luck.

thanks introvert, and good luck with TASP (:

@ petri21

STALKER ALERT! ha just kidding :slight_smile:
Good luck to you too. don’t give up yet, and as melody said, next year is when it REALLY counts.

Yeah, basically my situation for the past two days. : /

Cold slap to the face, but I guess it’s what makes most sense…

EDIT: Gah, but you realize that means not even a Fly-In … o.o
