MITES 2009 Information and Discussion

So sorry to hear that Melody, you’ve been a really cool person to have around this thread. Always really positive. Well now you’re free to go on with your life without anxiety and start getting ready for Round 2.

@JasdevS
Two of my friends called:
One accepteeand one who was wait-listed.
My friend who was rejected was e-mailed. :frowning:
His e-mail told him that all letters of acceptance were already sent last week.
E-mail them.

@Melody:
I’m so sorry to hear you go.
You were an amazing person I would have loved to meet.
See you around! :)

awwwww Melody :frowning: sorry. good luck on college apps next year and I hope I see you around then (: I’ll miss seeing you around here too though :/

I just emailed them, so we’ll see what happens

So if we haven’t gotten notification yet we’re definitely rejected? Or am I wrong?

I haven’t gotten any mail, but every time I call them, they don’t pick up.

They never answered my phone calls either until today.
But, who knows.
That’s what they said.
Maybe you were wait-listed. Or got a Fly-in.
Always hope for the best!

NOTHING came in the mail today! this has been the most agonizing wait ever in my life, and probably just for a piece of worthless light-as-feather paper with REJECTION on it. I know I should not be so pessmetic but this torture has already worn me down.
I think I’ll call.

I’ve been lurking on this thread for weeks now, hoping for something to make me feel better about my chances.

I had hoped to be the first Californian with an acceptance letter, but I’ve been rejected.

It was a letter dated on the 6th in a small envelope.

Anyway, I don’t think that anyone getting a letter this week is getting in; still though, it feels good to have closure on the matter.

I really hope the rest of you who haven’t gotten anything are accepted or waitlisted, but I wouldn’t be on it.

Don’t worry too much about it, im sure it’ll come soon jiezhao. And I know what you mean about the waiting. grrr…I sent an e-mail today, I hope they respond soon. Good luck jiezhao! I hope you hear soon and get in (:

awww sorry you didn’t make it stoopidmguy and thanks for the info. Im sure i’ve been rejected, I juast want the letter for closure. And my mom refuses to let me notify YESS about attending their program until I know for sure about MITES

I know I should have applied to YESS, but I was too lazy to do the essays

but now i know for next year to apply to everything

I’ll probably do some volunteer stuff over the summer, and I know I’m gonna need some time to decompress after the SATs and APs coming up

Aw, thanks so much mikester, Krysty, and Petri
In retrospect, talking with all of the amazing people in this thread has been my favorite part of the MITES experience. Maybe someday we’ll be future classmates or something, because it would have been cool to meet you guys. I actually just got the letter in the mail; it was very nice, and said to apply to MIT-which I’ll do (probably ea…)
GL with the rest of Jr year and I hope everyone has a fun summer, whatever you choose to do!

hey thank you Petril21 for being so encouraging, I really appreciate your alleviating words that pacify me a little bit. I was just browsing through MIT admission blogs, life just seems so interesting there. the 6-weeks would be so amazing, just imagine immersing yourself in the most unbelievablly invigorating and enthralling culture. er… I know my chances are low, I’m asian, middle income family, not even a minortiy at MIT. but I do have the passion and desire to be there.

I love the MIT blogs, anytime I have nothing to do (or just an english paper I want to avoid) I read some random blogs. I think that as long as you really want to go to MIT that will shine through when you apply and they’ll see how passionate you are about MIT and your studies. I hope we all beast MIT admissions, I’d love to see you guys there (:

Decision:R-E-J-E-C-T-E-D

from north california. i knew it lol. it was a nice letter though. if you didnt get letter yet, you are almost guaranteed rejection. sorry guys. :(

Let’s all get in MIT next year!

@ futurexreject. Yes let’s do it!
and sorry about the rejection :frowning:
I wonder when mine will finally get here…

Hey, sorry to hear you guys got rejection letters :frowning:
I was cheering for all of you.
Remember, acceptance rates into MITES are much lower than that into MIT.
So, APPLY NEXT YEAR!!!
Then we can start another thread on how long they’re taking to mail us!!!
lol :)

yeah i haven’t received mine yet either. Hey Petri21 when do u have to reply to the Yess program?

Wow. I’m in disbelief. I just got the email reply. Accepted. I don’t know how I to feel right now.

Wow…congrats, mike! :)

hey you guys I just got mine today and sadly I am rejected. It was really nice talking to you guys this past weeks and almost a month or two I think. Anways congratulations to the ones who made it. Hope to talk to you guys later on when it really counts towards MIT or other admissions. But you guys are going to have to definatly tell me all about it  ttyl
