MITES 2009 Information and Discussion

man none of us californians made it. :frowning: boo hoo

Well actually, I’m a Californian. Southern Californian to be exact. However, I got nothing in the mail. Only got my decision when I emailed the mites program yesterday. Also got all the documents in another email, which I’m working on right now. Good luck to all those still pending.

@BlackRose: sorry to hear that you got rejected. But for sure, we’ll see you around on the MIT board next year. Probably as soon as October. I’ll post a recap of the summer for people who are interested and for next year’s batch of MITES applicants.

Rejected as well…not suprised
any backup plans for summer?..I need to find something to do

miracle didn’t happen…

I got rejected!! and I’m weirdly relieved/happy. Happy because I’m done waiting and relieved because that means I don’t have to choose between two great programs. sorry to everyone else who was aldo rejected and congratz Mikester that’s awesome!! oh and blackrose, idk when I have to respond to YESS by, they said they’d send me a packet this week and I’m assuming that that packet will have all of the information

Rejected! My application was frigging awful, so it’s not a surprise at all. And I really don’t like programs for minorities anyway (I am URM, btw). There’s something about them that just strikes me as off.

I am now officially 0 for 3. Guess I’ll have to get a job.

lol@ millancad, yeah it was awkward getting the rec. letters from the teachers cause they seem to be against affirmative action in my school

OMG!!!
I am invited to the junior Fly-in program!!!
I am so excited!!!
I’ll be in MIT for 3 days!!!

ectastic!!!

@jiezhao:
What? They sent u a rejection letter first, and a fly-in invitation later?

yes, it is kinda weird. on the fly-in invitation, they apologized for not reaching me early enough. I am TOTALLY surprised, especially after being depressed yesterday all day.

Hey guys!
Sorry to hear a lot of you got rejected.
Atleast you have the entire summer off now!
I’m still hoping I get in, being that I’m on the wait-list.
I will GO CRAZY if I get to go!
Sucks I have to wait another month -__-

that’s awesome jiezhao! have fun at MIT
and thanks krysty, I hope you get in (:

thanks petril21. hey get your hopes up, you’ll probably receive an invitation tomorrow! then I’ll have a chance to meet you there!
Krysty I think you will make it!!! good luck.

does anyone get an invitation to the fly-in? I hope I can meet ppl on CC at MIT!

I hope I will!
I’d love to meet everyone :)

thanks jiezhao, but I actually got my official rejection letter in the mail today (:. Oh well, I guess I won’t be seeing MIT this summer, but at least this means I’ll be seeing Caltech :)

Just wondering, when you email do you email the mites@mit.edu email?
I emailed and I haven’t gotten a response yet, and I would prefer to know about my rejection sooner than later
But I remember there was something missing from my application, so someone specific emailed me. do i email that person?

Yeah, if you emailed today you won’t get a response till tomorrow morning though. I don’t know about emailing specific people though.

I just emailed the mites@mit.edu one

Well, I emailed last night but perhaps I’ll get a response tomorrow
thanks!
I’m guess I’m just a wee bit impatient

What is the fly-in invitation? Who gets it? I visited MIT like 2 weeks ago, so my parents would be so upset with me for wasting all their money if I got one.

However, I wouldn’t mind visiting MIT again. It’s awesome there.
