MITES 2010 Information & Discussion

@xephyr
I agree. If I just got some notification , good or bad, I would stop thinking about it lol. Like right now for example… need to go finish h/w.

@ Robert18
oh wait!! Im checking my psat scores again it’s actually 63 math (ahaha Twinss!)
Jeez to think my subconscious gave myself an extra point…

my plan was 29 math 22 science
haha I have my school documents out scattered all over when I should be doing homework…

@anavazquez omgsh ■■■■■ we pratically have the same for everything!!! :smiley: haha. You beat me by 1 point in math, and i beat you by 1 point in science. lol its okay about the extra point :stuck_out_tongue: lol.

& about the school documents me too!! this blog is keeping me from doing homework & eating haha.

@anavazquez
haha, in that sense, maybe, but still. =)
anxiousness does sound better.
i hope you get in!

rejected. :frowning: congrats to those who got in!
my mom called me and was like it’s here but it’s really thin. but i wasn’t like completely upset until i opened it and it was like REJECTED.
it’s reallyyy not a good feeling. andd somead, i know what you mean about not applying, i’m definitely not anymore. i’d prefer not to have another mit rejection letter.

I’ve been neglecting my homework for awhile from dwelling on this.

@anavazquez Aw, that was sweet. Thanks! Yeah, we are all know the feeling. Although I feel slightly more relieved now but still anxious. I haven’t signed up for any other summer programs either.

It would be awesome if we all ended up at MIT together. :)

@writergrl
aw, i’m sorry! but you were one of the other great candidates and it’s really tough this year, so don’t forget that. i think you should still apply to MIT because you never know. They DO have a higher acceptance rate than MITES.

robert: ha well how ironic(:
i wannnnna know already!
i hope i get in

:O I can understand homework… (it’s often uncreative and tedious, unfortunately)
but eating?

It’s the best thing to do in the world.
literally.

hey, you guys all like math n stuff
I was reading through a philosophy book the other day and came across this:

(a+b)^2 = a^2+ 2ab +b^2
makes soo much sense
when you look at this!
http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/POS/turchFigs/IMG.FIG11.1.GIF</a>
9th grade topic, I know, but it’s beautiful. :D

@hpaero1 true, but there is a way larger pool. i was just really shocked when i was rejected because the admissions person called my science rec teacher and she made him think i was a really good candidate. so i guess i was like feeling like i had a good chance.

@lalace42 you didn’t tell me if you were at state :stuck_out_tongue: haha.
i hope you get in too! :smiley: haha.

@writergrl94
really? aw that must be hard. =( but still you should try and apply to MIT.

Don’t worry Writergrl94 let your feelings out and let those who know comfort you. ( I told my mom and she comforted me by telling me if I went so far away I would become corrupted.) I feel a lot better now than about an hour ago and having some fun this summer wouldn’t be horrible.

If you really like MIT i suggest you still apply. I don’t think I’ll apply because I wasn’t sure if I liked the idea of a tech school and was using MItes as a way to find out.

@writergrl:
Apply to whatever school you want to, sister!
Don’t let silly decisions you don’t have control over ruin anything for ya.

lol well said by anavazquez

@writergrl94
I was assuming that you like MIT.

robert: when do u think it will come?

thanks guys! i really appreciate the support.
i think i like mit? i did before, but now i’m not sure.
the letter said that they weren’t picking based only on like grades or test scores… were they picking based on personality then? because i feel like that is somehow worse. i haven’t taken the sat so i can prob bring it up from the psat’s 213. but how am i supposed to fix my personality?

seriously, congratulations to everyone who got accepted today.

I’m from Cali and I haven’t received anything yet. This wait is kind bad for me. I’ve been messing up at volleyball practice and in school because I can only focus on the MITES decisions. AHHH.

i’m tired.

It’s not worse!! They’re not telling you to fix anything lol
It’s only the application that they saw and not you.
You have personality, but maybe it wasn’t shown in the app.

and btw, I envy your 213 psat score :)

@writergrl94
Don’t let one decision change your thoughts. Think about it. =)
I think they’re looking to see, besides grades and test scores, your personality through the essays. I think personality may play a big part in the selection process too. Oh 213 is really good! I want that score =p Good luck on SAT.
Just be who you are (I know this is vague, but it’s true). I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with your personality. Just out of curiousity (because of your name), do you love writing?
