@FROTW5693: yea, let’s hope there’s no problem. There are usually around 6 to 7 people from NY so they probably know how to handle the situation. I’ll call them tomorrow.

@xephyr417: you mentioned java? I’m a programmer and I also mentioned my strong interest in computer science in at least one (if not 2) of my essays. I think it made a big difference because it’s something I’m passionate about. Glad to answer any Java questions!

Well congrats to everyone who applied and to those who got accepted.

I live in Florida, and i have not received my letter yet, is everyone from Florida on the same boat as me?

As for those who got accepted, I was wondering if by any chance any of you went over the word limit for the essays because thats what I did and I’m not sure if they are too strict on that.

This is sooooo CUTE! congrats MITES '10 You’ll have a fabulous (but EXTREMELY challenging time)! Take advantage of every class… try not to sleep in them Enjoy this summer at MIT!!!

@gian1192
i definitely went over the word limit, one of my essays was around 500 words, but it was sort of a narrative so i made sure it was captivating enough to make them overlook the fact i went over the limit by a lot.

^Aw, I’m sorry. =( Apply to MIT (if you like it that is)

Still no mail from MITES. I think my rejection letter got lost in the mail somewhere.

EDIT:
haha, apparently I missed one letter. It’s a rejection letter like I was expecting. Oh well, good luck to everyone else and congrats to the rest!

@hpaero1, aww, i’m really sorry. you were an encouragement on this thread, and I really thought you would’ve made it. I hope you have a terrific summer anyways!! :)

Just got my letter today - rejected from ct :(

@2011VAMom
Thanks! I will have a great summer. =D I have a small backup at langley research center, but it’s only a week so that’s kind of disappointing.

@MIT15
Haha thanks, but I really was expecting a rejection. I mean of course it would’ve been nice to get accepted, but that’s life lol. Now, I’ll focus on trying to get into MIT… somehow. =D

Good luck on getting off the waitlist!

@TQSMNTASP
Congrats on acceptance to YESS. I had no doubts that you would be accepted to that, if not MITES.

@arsenalcrazy
haha, I’m with you on the stress thing.

@Robert
It’ll come, eventually haha. South south Texas is a looong way.

Could you( guys who got accepted) give us your stats?
I am wondering how they choose kids for that summer program.
Is it better to have more challenging classes or to have more extra activities (volunteer work, pay job)?
My son is thinking to apply next year.
