Well, both of my parents went to college, but they went to master in business, as did everyone else in my family. (Seriously, it’s business majors all the way down!) I’ll be the first to go into a science related field (and I think they’re a little disappointed by that too, lol)

I feel like business is the go to major for students that don’t know what they want to do. Or communications.

Sweet Jesus! Twenty pages! I’m gone two days and you guys increase the size of this thread by 20%. Thought they released decisions. I’ll be praying that we all have our dreams come true. Can’t stay… Good luck!

@lovelylily. I never learned box and whisker plots…or matrices for that matter XD Never needed them so shrug

It does seem very general. Interesting and involving, but really general.

@lovelylily28 same here.
@MS4211 Gracias. Soy un chico. :P

And I’ll do another of these good luck messages.
Good luck. You are all amazing people. I hope we all meet someday, whether it be at MITES, an Ivy League, or just a random occasion. Keep going at it, friends. :)

“There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be…” - John Lennon

I know this sounds pretty stupid, but I’m not exactly clear on what considers you to be first generation. I actually think I made a mistake on my own application because I put no for the box which asked you about that. My direct family, that is my parents and I, have not been to a four-year college. My dad has an associates degree in CAD Design, from here in the US. So I’m assuming that would make me first gen, unless that means you
re parents never went to college here in the US. But from my extended family, that is cousins and aunts, have all gone to 4-year college or are currently in it. Too late to cry about putting no in my application, but I’m just curious what you guys think.

EDIT: I hope this makes sense - doing calc homework at the moment and anxious about MITES, so I can’t think. :D

So, I think that those of us who don’t get accepted should form a Facebook group and call it something like ,“It’s not MITES, but…” and post all of the awesome things we do over the summer instead of MITES.

My I am the first to go to college on my dad’s side and the second on my mom’s side, well soon third once my sister graduates.

Also, I plan on taking the SAT, but either way I don’t do well under pressure; my mind is like, “Oh. You’re going to fail, so stop trying to concentrate.”

Lastly, I have so much faith that you guys will be some of the most successful and intellectual people in the world. Whether we get into MITES or not, we’re going to be some movers and shakers in our professions.

@Lily: I literally was just thinking that - “It’s not MITES, but we’ll still change the world for the better”

@futureengineer 13: Exactly
I think we should do it.

Maybe it could be “Not MITERS but Fighters”

Don’t forget about all the E2 and MOSTEC kids. Many of us here will go to MITES. Many others will make E2 and MOSTEC. We should each have a group for each respective program, and then a super-group consisting of MITES, E2, and MOSTEC. Agreed?

Haha yes for the group page!

And yeah, ACT has some random question going on in the math section. 0_o

And I’m not first generation, sort of. My parents both attended college at the Philippines, so I will be first generation in America
I just wish there were other programs that were like MITES. It’s such a great opportunity, but it’s really directed towards URMs.

@Run Agreed!

@Nashia: You took our idea and made it better tenfold. Do you agree @Lily? Haha that’s an amazing name.
And don’t get too disappointed! We’re acting as if we were already rejected haha. I have faith that most of us here - if not all, will be among those that were selected!

@lily You mean a FB page along the lines of this?

@run1116: agreed :)

@Run: I also agree!
@cmarquez: I love it xD

@future @Nashia: Yesss, I like that name!
@cmarquez: hahahaha, yes :)
