@LoroBlonyo It really depends on who decides to pull out their application. MIT gave us a week to decide on whether or not we would like to apply only for MOSTEC. I personally was really looking forward to have the chance to spend 6 weeks at MIT, but since that can’t happen, I just decided to keep my application in the pool and see what happens. In their update email they said they’ll expand the MOSTEC program. I wonder how that’s going to look and if they’ll accept the number they usually accept for MOSTEC plus the number they usually accept for MITES. I think it’ll be easier for them to accept more people now since it’s online. Good luck!

@Konohakatu yeah I received the email some days ago. I think they will accept around 200 given that they take… I think 80 for mites and around 130 for Mostec. Do you think they will delay decisions?
@seaHer21 i think it’ll still come out around the same as previous years since they said mid-April

@seaHer21 thanks good luck to you too! I did submit SAT scores but they emphasized that test scores aren’t a limiting factor and even if you did good/bad it won’t dramatically affect your admission.

@seaHer21 i got a NIH research internship but it’s moved to 2021 because of the virus and I also applied to SSP
And I think decisions will come out next Wednesday or Thursday if it’s the same schedule as previous years (but it could be possibly different due to the virus)

How much time does MOSTEC take up? Would it be possible to have a job during the summer along with this?
I was initially wondering the same thing but I don’t think this coronavirus social distancing is going to die down anytime soon so I’m fully expecting businesses to stay closed throughout the summer.

@Joe11223456 I talked to a past mostec alumni and she told me that they 2 two classes and that each meets twice a week and you have assignments and other stuff that you have to finish by the end of the week. Also, I think there’s a lot of communication with the professors!
Decision should be out anytime now!! Does anyone know what they mean when they say when they say they’ll be expanding on MOSTEC? Will it be MOSTEC with more classes or a MITES/MOSTEC combo?
I’m thinking that just means that they will accept more people than usual and accommodate that with more classes, although I’m hoping they do end up doing something different to fill in for the cancelation of mites.
