Don’t normally watch baseball but our house is glued to this nail biter. Thank goodness we’re on the west coast.
My SIL is a lifelong cubs fan and her first child is due any time now. Her husband is currently taking “bets” on facebook about whether or not this will push her into labor.

Not an Onion story…When the Red Sox won in 2004, the cemeteries were full of flags and baseballs and caps and anything else you can think of with people celebrating with those who didn’t make it through the long, sorry 86 years.
Unbelievable game! Made better by constant texting from all three kids throughout. So thrilled for these guys!

Just wanted to say congrats to both teams for making baseball interesting even to a non-fan like me!! 
@twoinanddone, I never heard that story, but truly get it. I had completely mixed feelings in 2004–ecstatic that the Red Sox had won, and miserable that my dad, a lifelong fan, hadn’t lived long enough to share the ecstasy (he was only 5 years old when they had last won, so didn’t appreciate that championship). He would have been beside himself.
I also watched the game “with” my DS via text. To be honest, this was the first baseball game I watched all season, so I had no inside info on the teams and their respective strategies and DS had to keep educating me throughout. (And I never knew until this game that a foul bunt may be a third strike. Live and learn, no matter how old you are!)
Son lives in Chicago and was married this summer - somehow I think this epic seven game nail biter and historic World Series will be the most memorable moment of year
