MLB.TV for baseball fans

Am looking for suggestions from anyone who has subscribed to this for the baseball season. D (who lives in LA) told me her SO would really like it for his birthday, so I purchased it yesterday, provided his email account and a password. He spent a lot of time with tech support last night and today because he never got a confirmation email to activate his account last night, nor could he log on, despite the charge showing up on my Visa bill right away last night. He texted me and suggested that perhaps I should ask for a refund because the website is not working on any of his devices and he’d been working with tech support for almost two hours today. I felt bad because I know he really wanted it, but what fun is a birthday present when all it does is ruin a whole day and you get nowhere. So then I told him that I’d get him two tickets to his favorite team when they came to town to play the Dodgers. So we looked at dates, and he must have gotten a second wind, because he said he was going to give it one more try tomorrow to get the account activated. He has a direct email for the guy who tried to help him out today and will reach out to him again.

But I keep thinking… how can something like this be so difficult to figure out? He did finally get the email confirming the subscription, but can’t activate his account from a laptop, iPad, or smart phone. Has anyone else had this level of technical difficulties trying to use MLB.TV?

Here’s their technical page…ugh.

Is it because it is a third party billing? Could he just order it directly and you pay him for it, he pays the bill? Yes, the surprise is out, but I’m sure he knows how much it costs.

Just for starters looks like he needs adobe flash. My old apple products don’t support flash. Just looks like there could be technical issues which can be a major pita.

Just got an update from D and SO. He finally talked to the fifth tech person, who told them not all spring training games are available on smart TVs. They played around with some other things, and he is finally now watching baseball. I told him maybe all the techies are going through spring training, too!

He seems happy to be getting something right now, but I can’t believe they make it so difficult - this level of technology shouldn’t be so challenging. Many people would just give up.
