MOB dress help needed!

Has anyone else noticed that we used to be able to click on a link and it would open in a new tab, whereas now it opens in the same tab? This means that to get back to the conversation I have to click “Back.” I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve clicked on the “x” and closed up my CC tab!

Is it CC, or did I do something to my computer?

@VeryHappy - I noticed that just recently. It’s happening both on my phone and my computer, so I’ll blame CC.

A work-around: you can right-click on the link, and then select Open in new window, or Open in new tab.

@VeryHappy Yes. Noticed it on this thread yesterday. Change is hard! Especially unanticipated change.

@VeryHappy and @deb922 I love the dress that you posted in #169, it was my favorite of all the ones I ordered (and I lost count of how many I have ordered!). I really wanted to keep it, but the sequins catch the sunlight a lot and I’m afraid of glare in the pictures since we’ll be outdoors. And I don’t want to be all sparkly in the sunlight during the ceremony. Maybe I am worrying about nothing? I really did like it better than the one in my original post (with the much-discussed belt and bow) but I am just worried about being too sparkly.

I do feel bad about doing all these returns, but there is such a limited selection of sizes and colors in the stores that there really is no other option. I need a size 2, preferably petite, and there is almost nothing available in the store.

I’m sure the stores are used to people having to order online and return at stores. Everyone knows that styles and sizing at stores is VERY limited. The stores should NOT be penalized for accepting returns because that’s the way they’ve been set up–buy online and return at bricks and mortar to avoid postage for returns.

@VeryHappy - I think it’s CC. If you are using firefox if you hold down the Ctrl key when you hit the link it will open in a new tab. I can’t figure out how to just make all links open in new tabs, which is clearly far preferable IMO.

Make your husband return them for you.

I ordered the dress @VeryHappy recommended. I was going to wait but when I looked it was only available in the silver color in my size and I was afraid if I waited it would be gone. I hope I look good in that color, I wanted to order it in the navy but they didn’t have it.

I see what you are saying @Cbaker23 about the sun and my kids wedding is also outside. But I think the wedding is at 4:30 in October. It’s in October, that I know and outside if the weather is nice. But I think in October in Michigan the sun won’t be as bright as it would be in the summer. The sunlight is pretty muted that time of year. But the weather could be 70 and it could be 40. I may be wearing my long johns under the dress and my winter coat… That will look great in the pictures lol!

@deb922, that’s so funny. My DS’s wedding is 4:00 PM, on the same date as your kiddo’s, also outside if the weather is decent.

@c3baker: Try one of these if you’re concerned about the sequins and sparkle:

@deb922 - I think you’ll love the dress! And I agree, a 4:00 wedding in October in Michigan probably won’t have the direct sunlight to be a concern. My daughter’s wedding is at the same time, but in July. All my worrying about this is probably insuring that we have an overcast or (heaven forbid!) a rainy day!

@VeryHappy - thanks for those links. I had actually ordered and returned the first and third already, they were good but I didn’t like quite as much as the one I linked in my original post. I love the middle link and have had really good luck with Tadashi Shoji dresses but it’s a light blue color and I need navy.

My daughter will be home next weekend for a bridal shower so I’ll show her my current dress choice to get her opinion.

Wow–so many lovely gowns available these days. It’s nice that you can get them shipped to you for free and try them on and return if they don’t work out. I’m not in the market to buy anything as neither of my kids are in any serious relationship we’ve heard of. I will be a guest at a July wedding but haven’t started looking for anything to wear to it yet. Maybe I will start, inspired by this thread.

Thanks to this thread, I ordered a dress online, from NM, for a fancy Bat Mitzvah. Dress for morning service and lunch afterwards, so, the dress mostly wrong, and went to return it. Tried on many dresses. Of course, the most expensive was only one that looked good. Hopefully, it will go down n sale. Or I’ll find something nice but less $$$ in next few weeks.

I started looking for a dress to wear to niece’s wedding in July. Am thinking of maybe this dress in blush, but undecided. In reading the comments, some MOBs and MOGs bought and wore this dress.

That’s nice, HIMom. With pearls.

“Of course, the most expensive was only one that looked good.”
Kind of like college shopping. You don’t want to look at the expensive reaches until you have a safety pinned down because once you’ve seen the nice one…

Very nice, very classic! @HImom. I’d bet you’d get a lot of wear out of a dress like that because it could be suitable for many occasions depending on how you accessorize.

HIMom, I really like that dress

Doschicos, we didn’t do any formal college tours until AFTER son was accepted!!! He did see the flagship before.

The good thing is I doubt my sister as MOB would wear the same dress as we did for her other D’s wedding. Maybe I will order it and see what I think. I don’t have anything in pink or blush, so may try that instead of my standard neutral blues and blacks.

I may try to check out Ross–they sometimes have excellent Lauren knit dresses that fit, which I like and can wear anytime, anywhere, since I rarely dress up or attend weddings. More to ponder, as I like to try the dresses on to decide and get weary with buying a ton and returning them too. We also have a TJMaxx next to Nordstrom’s Rack. One day when I have the energy I may go and look, otherwise I’ll accessorize something from my closet.

I am pretty sure my DDs wedding dress is blush…so that color is off the table for me to wear.

Ah, but it comes in navy and black as well. Most dresses come in several different colors, so they can appeal to different folks with varying complexions.
