MOB dress help needed!

OMG, it’s in a petite size! How come the Ralph Lauren site doesn’t have this?!!?

And it is on sale! With additional 15% off apparently.

BunsenBurner = personal shopper extraordinaire.

Too late to edit –

I just ordered it in blue! Thank you, thank you!!

(So you all think the blue is better than the pink? I think I agree with you, but I don’t trust myself anymore, since I’ve ordered and returned around 20 dresses to date.)

I prefer the blue for a wedding.

I personally like both colors. But the blue probably is not going to jump put as much…as hot pink.

And again…I think the wrap and jewelry you choose will be the key.

Great dress…hope it looks terrific!!

I am a huge fan of blue. IMO, it is a more timeless color than pink.

Now, :)>-

Love that blue dress!

I’m jealous of those of you who’ve found your MOB/MOG dresses. I just sent back a Pisarro Nights dress to Nordstrom that I really wanted to be the one. It was the shortest of the long dresses I found in navy (55", supposedly) but dragged on the floor on me. Hemming would probably cost more than the dress due to the embellishments on the skirt and the two layers of fabric. The V-neck was so wide that it slipped off my shoulders, and going down a size was not an option. Finally, the dress shed at least three dozen deep blue sequins in the 5 minutes I wore it. I can only imagine the sparkly trail I’d leave behind at the church and reception.

^ silpat…I had same shedding experience with that dress…and that’s when I made decision of NO sequins. Besides falling off, sequins also irritated my arms when at my side…

@gosmom, when you find your dress I hope you’ll share it here. I’m having a tough time finding something suitable that also fits my body shape and size, yet doesn’t have sequins. I prefer 3/4 sleeves, too, which adds to the difficulty.

One of the dresses I have is a Tahari dress…no sequins except a tiny bit on the very thin belt. It’s a navy very soft lace…and it has spandex in it…so it forms nicely…but has some “give”.

@VeryHappy I love the bright pink. It’s such a vibrant happy color. But… I think sadly that the blue is better for pictures. If you were a guest and not in tons of pictures, I would definitely do the pink. But because of the pictures and not wanting to be a focal point of pictures, the blue is perfect.

I think the dress is great though. And BB is shopper savant

Thanks to you all. I find it fascinating that even before the pink one has arrived in my house, I know I’m going to return it.

Though it sounds like the decision has already been made, the only concern I would have with the hot pink is the one expressed upthread - that next to the rest of the bridal party it would stand out. As the mother you will be in lots of pictures. My mother is 85, small in stature, with a head of pure white hair. For my son’s wedding she has ordered a hot pink structured silk shirt with a stand up collar, three-qarter length sleeves and rose embroidery on the shoulders. She will wear it with black palazzo pants and I know she will be a shock of bright in a lot of the pictures, but she won’t be in that many and it’s her favorite color and looks amazing on her. Her wardrobe for the wedding (and my niece’s bat mitzvah the weekend before the wedding) is all set and that’s one huge load off my plate. So many people to worry about.

@VeryHappy, I personally do not like that shade of blue. I prefer the pink. I’m torn!

@runnersmom, the consensus is to go for the blue one, not the pink one. It may wind up not being either of those. I would still prefer something long, but I’m not as comfortable in long as I am in short, and all the “longs” seem to be either way too dressy or way too casual.

Thanks for the suggestions, @Consolation. With both of those options, however, I feel that they make a nice wedding guest dress, but not necessarily a nice MOG dress.

I know, it’s hard to find the right combination of comfort, style, and “ambiance.” Are you still checking new stock at places like L&T and Nordtsroms? I’m seeing less prom-like dresses and more casual but not too casual long dresses.
My shopping skills are not amazing, so I won’t try to add more links, but take a look. Ideally, as much as I love the three dresses I found for myself, I was hoping for something a little softer so I, too, may keep looking, as least until I come close the to return dates for the three dresses I have at home.

I’m still looking…and I have four dresses in my closet already. Any one would be fine…but none are perfect.

I’m not sure I’ll find “perfect”…so I’m aiming for nice…and comfortable.

@VeryHappy, do I see your blue dress now on sale at Macy’s for $93.49??

Yes, you do, and that’s what I’m paying for it!!! (The pink one was full price on the Ralph Lauren website, so the hell with them!!)
