Agree with everyone, some blingy earring is all it needs.
Before I read all the comments, I was going to point out that the model isn’t wearing a necklace.
And now that I’ve read all the comments, I’ll point it out anyway. :))
@patsmom, are those dresses from the 70’s? I recall having a particularly hideous floor-length floral dress that I wore in orchestra. Yes, I picked it out - thought it was pretty awesome at the time. It. was. not.
And @C3Baker , I really like that dress. My bust would be less decorative than hers, so I would opt for a necklace.
Thanks for all the affirmative responses! I have some pretty drop earrings that look great with it, so I am all set. Yay!
I’d like some shoes advice. This is the dress http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/alex-evenings-metallic-lace-chiffon-gown-regular-petite/4545682. Sold out now and honestly it fits me like the model, the length is exactly as pictured.
Wedding is in October in northern Michigan. Could be 40 or 70, who knows. If the day is nice the ceremony will be outside.
I bought these shoes http://ninashoes.com/newark-silver-glitter–17390?c=213. Perfect heel height, somewhat comfortable for heels and dressy. I will never wear them again.
I found these shoes http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/cole-haan-monique-ballet-flat-women/4617068?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=LEOPARD%20CALF%20HAIR and ordered them.
How awful would they be? I would actually get a ton of use out of these. But I don’t want to look dowdy, this is probably my one last chance to be somewhat glamorous lol!
My suggestion…wear the Nina for the pictures, ceremony, walking down the aisle, etc. then wear the Cole Hahn for the dancing part.
TBH, my opinion is the ballet flats are all wrong for this dress but would be OK for the dancing part.
I am not a heel-wearer, but I would wear at least a kitten heel with this dress. I think the flats would not look good with this dress. At all, sorry. If you aren’t comfortable in the higher heel, I’d find a kitten heel or something low. Preferably a sandal, peep toe, or a t-strap.
I like that suggestion @thumper1. Haha have 2 shoes, it’s so me lol!
The heels are fine in the Nina, they are not high.
I think a fall wedding is hard in some ways. I think I’m going to look like it’s summer out but it could be freezing. I guess it will be the same for the rest of the wedding party.
The MOB to my knowledge has not bought any dresses yet. If I had to guess I think she’s trying to take some weight off before she orders anything. I feel better having a dress and no one seemed to mind that I picked a dress before her.
I wore a very similar Nina shoe to my D’s wedding. They were perfect for the ceremony and pictures. After dinner, I changed into low wedge silver sandals (which I will wear again) for the dancing. I was much more comfortable and I still looked dressy enough.
Today I learned the term kitten heel.
Agree about the Nina shoe for wedding/pictures, and change into other for comfort/dancing etc.
I agree with changing into more comfortable shoes for the dancing.
It’s hard to tell from the picture of the Nina shoes, but be careful that the dress doesn’t get caught on the texture of the shoes.
I have no plans to have 2 pairs of shoes. I plan to change into bare feet for the dancing …
@thumper1, you have the best ideas!
Get heels for the wedding and just go ahead and get the flats and wear them all the time and enjoy them!
Ok…dress shift. I’m now looking for a street length dress. I would love a nice, but not pale, pink or lavender. I don’t particularly want beading or sequins or the like. And I do not want to spend over $300 on this dress.
Suggestions?
These:
This one is expensive but it’s really pretty, and I love the color: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/komarov-charmeuse-a-line-dress-chiffon-jacket-regular-petite/4666349?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=PURPLE%20ORHCID%20OMBRE
I like,the Komorov one…but it has to go on sale…and it won’t!
The others are not the right colors. A hot pink is too bright…and the burgundy with the long sleeves is too dark.
But keep them coming! I’m all ears…although I DO wish they carried these in the stores!!
Oh…a pale Aqua would work too.
Bridesmaids are wearing a blue grey color. So most blues won’t work except navy…and I already have navy options!
thumper1, remind me: Are you OK with sleeveless?
Sleeveless is OK…it’s an end of May wedding. But I don’t have Michelle Obama arms!
I’m also small on the top…and not as small on the bottom…I’m high waisted so petite sizes usually work better in terms of cut. But some regular sizes are fine too. It all depends on the design of the dress.
