A brand worth searching for (Nordstrom, NM, Saks, BG) is Theia. Here is their sale on their own site.
Ordered $2000 worth of dresses from Anthropologie. Ordered a variety of sizes. It is the one major downside of ordering online when you don’t know the fit of a brand. Some brands I can wear a 4 where other brands I can go up to a 12. J Jill Stuart dress was a 6 and fit perfect aside from needing a hem.

I am also looking for a MOB dress for the summer. I prefer blue but probably not navy. The wedding will be inside and dressy. But I don’t really know how dressy! I figure I can wear whatever I want since I am the MOB. The couple has not quite decided on a dress code. It will be at 4 pm. Can they have it be black-tie optional or is that too early in the day? If they just want it to be “go ahead and wear the fanciest clothes that you like” what would they call that?

I am thinking about it! I guess it has been so many decades since I wore a long dress (to prom) that I just can’t picture myself in one. Do you think it is OK to wear a long dress if the wedding starts in the afternoon? There will be dinner and dancing.
@orangepurple I wore a long dress for my S’s September wedding. The wedding was at 3:30 in late September. It was the first time I’d worn a long dress since in 15 years ago. I was comfortable as I was able to not think about my legs or what shoes I wore. I think as MOB you can wear what you like. I think the Bridal party including MOB is usually dressed nicer than the guests.
As far as guest attire - the January wedding I’m invited to list cocktail attire. I think my D has wear what you feel fabulous in cocktail attire is great. Or something along those words.

I’m looking forward to getting the Anthropologie dresses and going from there. If nothing works I’ll hope that spring styles start appearing online.

@tx5athome, I love the BHLDN dress you linked (#1386) and tried it on for a black tie wedding we attended in October. Sadly, I felt the material was very cheap. Many, many beautiful dresses linked here!
DDs wedding ceremony started at 4:30. I wore a long dress.
When you’re MOB, you have close to carte blanche, as long as bride’s happy—long, short or in between, regardlesss of wedding time. Just wear something you feel and look amazing in so it can be a fun and fabulous event!
Any suggestions for an old short fat MoB? Wedding is in June and I am dreading shopping. I know I can’t put it off forever. DD doesn’t care what I wear as long as I’m happy.
@daylily1 — what outfits are you happiest and most confident wearing? That might be a good place to start. What colors do you favor? Knee length or full length? Formal or less formal? Dress or slacks?
D’s wedding is in August. She wants the bridesmaids, me and MOG to wear long dresses. The wedding is at 4:30, followed by cocktail hour, dinner, dancing. My niece just got married last night and she put “formal attire” on her wedding website. She got just what she wanted: women in cocktail dresses, long and short, men mostly in suits (jackets off when the dancing started). I think D may do the same…
