Sounds like quite the week. Mazel Tov on the wedding and graduation…
Love the black dress and the Charles Jourdan shoes. Personally not so crazy about any of the other three… but you still have plenty of time.
All good wishes.

Thanks for the good wishes all.
@bookmama22 Thanks. For D2’s wedding, there is only one dress currently in contention…the dark grey Adrianna Pappell one, and I’ll bring it to show D2 in NYC when I go to D1s wedding. She didn’t love it on the link but I’ll see what she thinks in person. There is time with that wedding.
@busyparent Regarding older D: They got the Cartier rings in Paris when they got engaged there last summer (was all preplanned). They recently got them engraved here in Boston and both times, the stores had rounds of champagne for them. They are simple gold bands actually. D2’s engagement a year ago, however, was a total surprise her fiancé pulled off in a special fashion.
I’m rushing around with juggling things for my various jobs, last minute requests D1 has for her wedding that I am still working on now even though I am leaving for NYC tomorrow morning. It’s all good. Happy occasions. I know I’m gonna cry though! (I think I’ll grab some of my mom’s fancy handkerchiefs to take) I can hardly believe it has come to this point (kids’ weddings)! I’m sorry my parents have to miss out (they are deceased) on all these joyous occasions. My girls saw one another in NYC today before D2 had a two show day. Next up is D2’s official opening night tomorrow night and I’m looking forward to her show and the after party for that. Then, the really big day for D1on Tuesday!!! She has been sending some happy photos back from NYC (they are already down there living it up…making it into a four day celebration)!
@soozievt That grey Adrianna Pappell dress has been my favorite since the start of your thread. I hope your daughter likes it in person!
“I think I’ll grab some of my mom’s fancy handkerchiefs to take”
What a great idea! It’ll be nice to have a piece of your mom with you during all these special events.
It all sounds wonderful. I remember when D2 had the terrible car accident in HS. Time flies.
@doschicos I did think about that aspect of having something of my mom’s. I can’t find where I put all those handkerchiefs. I see one all lace one and I’ll grab that. But I think I’ll also wear diamond earrings and a bracelet of hers to D’s wedding on Tuesday.
@busyparent Yes, I never forget what happened to D2 11 years ago and how grateful I am for her complete recovery. You have a great memory. This actually came up today in terms of something D1 wants us to prepare for Tuesday…a bunch of last minute requests and that story from 11 years ago is part of one of them.
OK, I gotta get to packing and a bunch of other stuff but didn’t want to ignore your nice thoughts.
I remember those frightful days when soozievt’s daughter had the car accident, but also remember when I first joined CC and soozievt and a funny poster “the dad” from California, were waiting for Ivy League college acceptances. Those days were filled with drama, and humor at times.
@soozievet
. … So true !
Great memory @SouthJerseyChessMom …I joined CC back in 2002 when my D who is about to get married tomorrow was starting her junior year in HS!! And to keep this on topic for CC…this daughter landed at Brown University for undergrad. For grad school, she went to two…MIT and UC Berkeley. She now works at a dream job doing sustainable architecture…first in San Francisco, then London, and now here in Cambridge, MA (all for the same international firm). Her fiancé went to UVA undergrad, then got a Masters at University of Cambridge (UK), and is now in a PhD program at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design (focusing on urbanism) and will earn another Masters on Thursday (Harvard).
It’s nice to have something of your mother’s at the wedding. My then 93yo mother, who’s in a nursing home, couldn’t be at S1’s wedding, but I wore a Murano glass bead bracelet she had bought in Italy. It was my way of having a piece of her there.
@shellfell So very true and meaningful. I have on a ring, earrings, necklace and bracelet of my mom’s for the wedding! My daughters’ other grandparents are still living, but are 90 and 88 and are no longer traveling, and my MIL’s health is failing right now. My kids had two sets of doting grandparents and I’m sorry neither can be in attendance.
Onto NYC today!
soozievt, Mazel Tov on the opening, the graduations, the wedding, not necessarily in that order! Have a safe and speedy trip down to NYC today. I apologize for not being able to take the showers out of the forecast for tomorrow morning, but I’ll try to see that they clear out by early afternoon. The temperature should be delightful!
Thank you @momof3sons! I am on my way to NYC now on a train! D1 just sent photos of their getting their marriage license and so it is getting real and exciting. The forecast for tomorrow has gotten better in the sense that the showers seem like they will end by afternoon. That would be nice as the ceremony is in the afternoon followed by hopefully outdoor photo shoots and then a celebration in the evening.
@soozievt another Ccer who has been around awhile. I also remember the early years. Congrats on both marriages. I’ve enjoyed your posts over the years. Always supporting your daughters in working towards their dreams. It’s great to hear that both are thriving in their chosen careers and in life.
Your dress and shoe choices are beautiful. I love the Sundance dress, just my style but unfortunate that I can’t wear that color.
My friend was able to set up a FaceTime feed for the grandparent who was unable to attend.
Have fun. Mazel Tov.
Thanks @mom60 ! So many old timers here.
Yes, I am very fortunate that my daughters are thriving in their respective fields and each has found a wonderful mate to marry and I love their partners.
I’m sure the professional photos of the wedding day will be shared with their living grandparents (my in-laws). They also had gorgeous shots taken professionally in NYC recently as engagement photos. This couple is not doing any video. My younger D will have video of their marriage ceremony for memory’s sake.
I’m wearing the Sundance dress now to go to D2’s show opening tonight and the after party. That’s the first event.
Have a great week!! Many fond memories of the old cc days are flooding in now.
@soozievt With that dress, you are sure to be the snazziest person on the train! Enjoy!
@soozievt Such a wonderful and joyous week for you! Congrats and best wishes all around. I’m sure that last night went beautifully and it must be so special for her to be in that theatre where a show that she has loved since she was a child had its beginnings.
My dress came yesterday and it is even more beautiful in person! Gorgeous fabric, and it fits perfectly, though I won’t be able to gain an ounce in the next year and a half! Perfect incentive for me to keep going to the gym and staying fit
Care to share link ^^^
soozievt, I don’t envy you. With the wedding behind us, I’m going to feel like I’m on vacation, with only my full time job to handle. Sending lots of stamina your way!

@SouthJerseyChessMom - now I have lots of time to figure out accessories. Ideas anyone?
