I used cannabis ointment on my heels and tops of feet anywhere I thought my shoe would rub. I went all night without feeling the need to take my shoes off. I haven’t tried it yet on a high scrappy sandal but I’m curious.
https://www.tarynrose.com/catalog/product/view/id/19398/s/babe-d-90489/category/723/ I just ordered these. I figure if I don’t want them for the wedding. I will wear them for something else. Cant beat the price.
Great shoes and great price. B-)
“and it’s certainly possible to match comfort with style.”
Certainly possible. Just takes some looking. I might never wear my MOG dress again but gotta say I LOVED my shoes!
@downtoearth Those are really pretty. And a great price. I find many of the Taryn Rose shoes very comfortable. I was really disappointed that the taryn rose sandals I ordered didn’t quite fit me.
@mom60 interesting! Never thought of that.
That Taryn Rose shoe is really pretty, and such a deal!
kind of an overlap with the bag a week thread or the marie kondo one-- this whole thing about shoes has had me going in my closet, trying on shoes I haven’t worn in a while, giving one pair another chance yesterday, etc. The pair I wore yesterday is just a tiny tiny bit too tight in the toes, where my feet are a little wide. (And my 3rd and 4th toes are kind of long.) All day I was kind of thinking, oh, as long as I don’t wear them for a day with too much walking, they’re not SO bad, and then I thought, do they spark joy? Nope. Not a bit. Because they’re just not comfortable! Out they go. Then I saw the lovely pink taryn rose pumps above and thought about similar shoes I have that just won’t stay on my feet all the time, again, they ALMOST work. But not quite. Out!
And the shoes I used to wear as dress up black sandals, which have a good arch support, good coverage, not too high a heel? Too stretched out to feel secure. A bit shabby looking. And, although they are not too high, they have a slender heel that doesn’t feel secure any more. Out!
And why were all three pairs still hanging around in my closet?
I think I need the reinforcement from all of you who are saying that shoes should be comfortable!
I say pick shoes that are comfortable AND that will look pleasing to you in the photos.
So when DD got married, it was a small event … but formal photos. I intentionally picked the shoes I wanted (and already owned/loved), and I wore them dress shopping. They were comfy wedge sandels with a little gold bling on the front. It worked well with the long dress we selected.
I agree shoes never spark joy for me unless they’re comfortable. I am gradually weeding uncomfortable-to-me shoes—maybe they will be comfortable and spark joy to a new owner.
