Moms over 50 -- what are your favorite pair of jeans?

I also like madewell jeans. I’m 5’1” and have decided that petite jeans fit best. I’ve tried (and tried) but since I bought the madewell petite jeans, I’ve decided to stick with petites.

I do have Athleta sculptek jeans and they are always nice.

I just got these jeans from a recent Anthropologie sale and they fit well and are different than another pair of skinny jeans. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/pilcro-ultra-high-rise-button-fly-slim-straight-jeans?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=093&searchparams=q%3Dpilcro%26sayt%3Dtrue&type=STANDARD&quantity=1

Madewell has a selection of jeans on sale for $75, that’s a good price.

I sent back a pair of blank NYC jeans that fit well and I would have kept except I needed to be about 3” taller. I thought about cutting the hem but decided to keep the anthro ones instead

Surprising no one, I had not heard of AG jeans.

When things normalize, I might seek out a pair at an outlet or on eBay.

Curious!

Another vote for Not Your Daughter’s Jeans

@fendrock, I buy jeans at J. Jill! However, they no longer carry my favorite Tried and True fit. I haven’t liked the latest styles I’ve tried nearly as much. I think I need to try some of these other brands.

I bought a pair of Simply Vera Vera Wang jeans at Kohl’s about 6 months ago and I LOVE them. They fit perfectly and are super comfy. I also have a pair of Lucky brand jeans that are super comfy!

I’m 5’2" weigh about 147 (although today the scale said 151) - but I’m in decent shape due to walking and yoga - these are my favorites of all time - I only like the black and dark blue - but I love them! There’s enough stretch to give and also to hold - I can never find pants that aren’t too long, and 12R work for me! https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=647191002&pcid=999&vid=1&searchText=rockstar+jeans#pdp-page-content

I have a pair of black NYDJ that I bought a few years ago and really like and wear often. (They are pricey. It was a splurge after I lost weight). I’m 5’2" and bought petite … they are long and look best with a bit of heel.

On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve had fun buying a few different brands (including NYDJ) from thrift store. They have all been under $10 price, sometimes 50% off tag price on sale days.

Per GV “Amanda”, I’ve read online Kohls reviews that complain on the variation of size / length - best to buy at the store.

Does anyone know who makes 99-100% cotton jeans? I do not like stretch jeans.

Levis’s 501s are still around. 99% Cotton.

@thumper1, we talked about Bandolinos on another thread years ago. I have gotten a few pair on Amazon in the past year. They still are my favorite. Boston Store, which sold them in my town, has closed.

I am also a fan of the Macy’s house brand. Macy’s might need the business about now, as I heard they laid off employees.

I also like the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans–have some on right now–super comfy. I got several pairs at Costco for $10 when they had them on sale. Other than that, I have spent most of my life wearing men’s jeans like Levis or even my son’s hand me down Walmart jeans. I do like the deeper pockets in men’s jeans, and they are usually sturdier, 100% cotton. Not the right shape for most women, though.

I love Lands End for tankini swimsuits and find I always get a good flattering fit for my 63 yr old, 5’8" moderately overweight body.

Decided to try jeans in my usual 14M. First slim cut that work perfectly for me. A tummy panel and stretch waistband that dont look or feel weird.
I think taller/bigger over 50 women might find these work for them too. On sale now for $48.

I like Ann Taylor The Skinny Modern Fit. I recently bought a pair of Ann Taylor Sculpting Pocket High Rise Skinny jeans, and I really like them.

I have a couple pairs of NYDJ, and they are not too bad. I prefer the Ann Taylor jeans, though.

Fit is a very personal thing!

Living in Florida I wear shorts just about all of the time. Tan pants to dress up. Generic jeans I own from years ago and never wear are too heavy weight. Hard to be tall and overweight(my waitline was once one of my best features). I am not fashionable- like elastic waists and at my waist. Comfort. Want long enough pants as well. My last shopping trip for jeans was fruitless. I do not want capris. My legs are my best feature- long and skinny ankles so just above the knee works well for me.

My 80 something mother-in-law from India is so small she also has clothes trouble. She has adapted to living in America and wears long pants instead of saris. I got her some Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in the petite dept once- they work well for her.

Skinny and straight styles look best on my 5’3" frame. My favorites are J Brand and Paige. I have also found that Old Navy rockstar jeans fit surprisingly well.

Mostly I have GV Amanda jeans from Costco. They fit me pretty well and when I can find and buy “ short” jeans, I don’t need to hem. I have paid a rave if prices for the jeans from $5-7 when it’s on clearance to something under $20.

Haven’t explored many others since the price and fit work for me, plus SO convenient.

William Rast high rise skinny are my favorite go-to jeans.

I love many of the jeans mentioned above but my true loves are my Levis 525 Perfect waist Jeans. No gaps , Has just the right amount of stretch without looking like leggings and I am 5’9" and the length is perfect. I often have to go online to find them now.

@Iglooo - Levis 525, my favorites. Between 98-99% cotton. I like a little give for comfort but not too much.

Not to take away from this thread but to ADD to it, I’m curious and I’ll be nosey. No apologies needed for your responses. You get to put what you want in your closet.

How many pairs of jeans do you own? And/Or of the jeans you own what % to you wear regularly?

This is my lifetime history with jeans. Having a stack of them in the closet but really only liking one or two of them enough to pull them out and wear them and feel good.

I weeded out mine in the fall. I think I only have 3 pairs now. And like mentioned above, have basically only been wearing one pair all winter. I imagine I’m on the low end - but I also am not one to grab jeans to wear around the house.

Again, no apologies needed! If you have 20 pair I’m sure you have a way to stack and store them!

I’m retired. When I wear pants on a day to day basis, they are always jeans. I have probably 15 pair…but some are cords for the winter, and I have a variety of colors.

Last year, I got rid of at least 20 pairs of black slacks…not jeans…and kept 4.

Carry on about the jean types.
