Jerry Mathers was the Beaver. And he’s still alive.
Jay North was Dennis the Menace, who tormented two different Mr. Wilsons - the first one having died in the middle of the series.

I already corrected my careless error before you posted.. Was doing 2 things at once - my bad.
Yes I watched both shows— in real time, when they were first runs
And My Friend Flicka, and Fury, and Dobie Gillis and the Little Rascals, etc.
What streaming platform were they on?
And my sibling was in the peanut gallery on Howdy Doody. I was actually too young at the time. And since you are good at trivia, I’m sure you know what buffalo Bob’s real profession was when he wasn’t on the TV show and how he got some of his members of the peanut gallery?
Well, Google is your friend…
That’s cheating.
I actually don’t. I guess I just assumed him to be strictly a TV personality.
Nope!
OK- to add to your plethora of trivia knowledge, Buffalo Bob was Bob Smith. His brother, Vic Smith owned the Stride Rite shoe store across the street, and that’s where many of the peanut gallery kiddos came from. Bob owned and ran a store across the street, and kids could go in to say hello (ask me how I know). It was…. a liquor store!
Our fall festival at our elementary school was attended by all the Howdy Doody characters!
I can watch Leave it to Beaver and Dennis the Menace every morning, and I think back to back (7 am and 8 am) They are antenna channels. Also My 3 Sons, Hazel (some in B&W, sometimes in color), Bewitched, Make Room for Daddy…
And while we are briefly going down this tangential rabbit hole, if you want to see a who’s who of actors early (or earlier) in their careers, look up who was on (in both occasional or recurring roles) “The many loves of Dobie Gillis” tv show. Everyone knows Bob Denver, but others include Warren Beatty, Tuesday Weld, Jack Albertson, Joyce Van Patton, Ron Howard, Michael J. Pollard, Mel Blanc, and my personal favorite obscure trivia fact… the milkman, whose character’s name was Casimir H Prohosky, Jr was payed by Peter Lupus. Someone even set up a Casimir H Prohosky facebook page Bonus points for any of you who even know who most of these people are!!
(And raise hand if you’re old)
I loved Dobie Gillis
ya have to ask??
So the Law and Order SVU of the 60’s?
Dobie Gillis must have been aired when I was very young. I remember Leave it to Beaver and My Three Sons, but I don’t recall DG or the Dennis the Menace show.
I Dream of Jeanne, Bewitched, Courtship of Eddie’s Father, were some of my faves.
I know them all from other roles. I’m aware of Dobie Gillis, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode..
You know my exact age.
youngster
Add it to your streaming playlist.
Oh, I wasn’t watching during the first run. I wasn’t born when it started!
Speaking of old shows, one that airs on antenna channels that has not aged well? Father Knows Best. it’s interesting from the standpoint of the fact that it reflects a particular era … but wow, it’s so incredibly sexist.
I love that show. I always wanted to be called Kitten.
Know what’s worse? The Danny Thomas Show! Dh and I caught an episode a few years ago and had to turn it off. Crazy racist!
