More Malevolent Police Behavior; They Nearly Run Him Over...And He's Innocent

Were these oafish cops drunk on St. Patrick’s Day? They could have killed an innocent black man on a whim and covered it up. Luckily, once again at least part of their improper conduct was caught on camera. Also, the victim’s fiancee is a police officer, so the usual lies by violent and malevolent officers may not fly this time. Finally, in my opinion the Justice Department should indict these villains; isn’t interfering with the mail a federal crime?

Here’s a link to the story;

Just when you think things can’t get any worse.

I love the word “malevolent” and think you used it perfectly, OP. (Sigh. What a world we live in…)

When such police misbehavior and failure to do their job properly and professionally reduces the public trust in the police (both among people in the area with the local police department that is involved, and among people in general, whether or not they live in areas where their local police departments are trouble-prone), it makes the job of the police more difficult while making it easier for criminals, perhaps including terrorists.

I don’t know what’s up with the NYPD. Here’s a case where a cop on her cellphone killed a pedestrian who had the right of way in a crosswalk. The NYPD basically says the pedestrian assumed the risk of getting run over and killed so it’s his own fault he died.

My sympathies also go out to the teacher’s family. The NYPD’s and the city government’s conduct is despicable. City governments defiantly refuse to say “we’re sorry” even when they are clearly in the wrong, when it’s going to cost them money.

Perhaps because they believe it will be seen as an admission of guilt in court if the wronged party does sue? Although saying that they are sorry for the error may reduce the chance that the wronged party will sue.

Apparently, distrust of the police led to this:

CBS-TV news has picked up this story. Smartphone video footage and the victim’s interview with a reporter is included in the story. The victim says the cops also purposely crashed (fender bender) into a van as they drove the victim in the back seat to the station. He sustained a mild injury. When he told them that his wife was a cop, well, the dolts were not impressed. His fellow U.S. Postal Service employees need to picket police HQ until these idiots with guns are fired. The arrogant cops are one step away from Officer Pantaleo, the killer who strangled Eric Garner for selling loose cigarettes. Sooner or later they will kill someone who doesn’t deserve execution.

I watched a 30 for 30 last night on ESPN about the Duke Lacrosse Team scandal of a few years ago. My God. I am in a state of shock about the behavior of the police and AD in that case. I didn’t really know the details until last night but let’s just say that NOT trusting the government and/or people in authority is a very, very, very, very, very good idea as far as I am concerned. It is AMAZING how stupid and dishonest people are.

They are being investigated by the IAB:

And the Feds:

^^this makes me sad. Even angry people who know that they were unjustly treated and the situation is being remedied can be traumatized by the events.

The Police IAB and the Postal Service OIG being involved means that the fur is about to fly. Not saying that these dimwits with guns will be fired, but believe me government OIGs do not initiate investigations on a whim. And OIGs are not in the habit of dropping investigations without issuing conclusions, usually quite critical conclusions. It’s relatively rare for an OIG to fail to find some degree of fault. My guess is that, at the very least, these dim bulb policemen will lose their allegedly plum assignment and be sent back to ordinary uniformed street patrol, which according to the Police Commissioner, they were supposed to be in uniform anyway. And this latest event doesn’t help as regards the current lawsuits against one or more of these officers.

Also, has anyone else noticed that the usually reactionary NY police union, the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, has been silent thus far? Silence is very atypical of them. Hmmm.

I am so disturbed by the potentially deadly arrogance of these officers that I have just fired off a letter to the White House, in hopes there will be a thorough and deliberate federal investigation. Such inquiries seem to be the only way to effectively remind bad cops that ordinary citizens have rights in this country. Thank God that Glen Grays wasn’t killed.

Not a few bad apples, but quite a few bad apples …

I was wondering when that loudmouth jerk who chose to make a political spectacle of an officer’s funeral would be heard from!
