More snow Monday?

Sally…check with the airline about Monday. There is going to be another east coast mess…and if that is the case, planes might not be positioned where you need a olane on Monday. The airline will let you know.

Yeah, thanks. He is supposed to go ORD-MUC on Lufthansa. The agent I talked to last night said the flight cancels “a lot” when there is even the slightest bit of bad weather in Chicago, which sort of surprised me. I just don’t want to have a harrowing drive down there only to find out he will be stuck for 24 hours in the airport (and I will have the harrowing drive back alone) when he could be home instead snuggling with dogs and watching the Super Bowl.

My high school son is praying to the snow gods for a heavy snowfall here. We are within minutes of the CT border.

My daughter is scheduled to go to Boston today (from Texas) for Admitted Students Day at Boston College tomorrow. Her return flight is on Monday at noon. Do you think she’ll be able to get out? Would you cancel? She doesn’t care if she misses one more day of school, but I don’t want her getting stuck at the airport all day/night on Monday.

Between Super Bowl snack/food buying and storm prep the grocery store is likely to be HELLISH today.

I’m thinking dinner time is the time to go to the store.

The Weather Channel website is saying 5 to 8 inches Monday, but our local TV forecaster is saying 6 to 12 inches. I hope it’s as light and fluffy as what we’ve been getting lately.

We laboriouisly shoveled out the path back to our dog’s run on Wednesday. Now the wind has blown all the new snow right into the path! We’ll have to start over. Thank goodness for child labor.

@curiousmother, surely BC would do something for her and other fly-in visitors if flights are cancelled. If not, they are probably going to lose a LOT of students! It could be an adventure for her. And Tuesday is supposed to be nice.

The current forecast for Boston is 8-12 inches and heavy winds on Monday. Not promising. Could she fly out Sunday eve instead?

Thank you, Consolation! She is actually hoping she gets stuck. She wants the adventure! I just don’t want her to get stuck at the airport if she has to go in the morning and then her flight is cancelled (but I supposed the roads will be ok for her to get back to BC?..This Texan doesn’t know much about snow). We looked at getting her out on Sunday evening, but AA doesn’t have any direct flights out late afternoon/evening (after the orientation is over). They all go through Chicago or Philadelphia (where there will be weather problems on Sunday!)

My child laborer is a freshman in Ohio, so it’s me and the dog. I’m trying to train the dog to be my trailblazer, but he is too smart and follows behind me as I trudge around the house to shovel out the propane tank
Consolation - It is funny that Brunswick is considered rural when it is one of the larger towns in the state, but it’s all about perspective I guess.

Well, not too far away. I grew up in Medford. We did spend considerable time not far from you, going out 70 past Lakehurst on our way to Brick, where my brother often played hockey.

We’re supposed to get 6-12" in NYS, but we were supposed to get a whole lot last week when the roads were closed down and ended up with the worst snow flurry of the year, so I’ll believe it when I see it.

Haha…“worst snow flurry of the year”–that is awesome.

This little storm could end up netting us more snow than the Blizzard of the Century last week. Argh!

We’re in Chicagoland and they’re predicting 10-14 inches starting tonight through early Monday. Not unusual but it’s been pretty light so far this winter. Maybe the forecast inspired us, but we’re about to put an offer on a house in San Diego! There will be multiple offers so who knows but it’s the first house that really spoke to us!

What a difference in the news coverage, though! No one seems to care about the foot or more expected in parts of the midwest…even though it will affect millions of people not just in the region but all over the country.

@curiousmother, she can get to and from BC by public transportation.

My path out to the chicken house, forged by me and the dog, had completely vanished by this afternoon. We floundered back and forth through thigh-high drifts on separate trips with a 25-lb bag of food–thank doG I didn’t buy the 50 lb bag!–and a bucket of water. The fact that it is powder makes a huge difference. Very unusual for this area.

Today I went up to the attic and unearthed H’s extra-large down parka from EMS for our trip to the dog park. Definitely a wise move.

As I noted in the other storm thread, we’re expecting an inch of moisture and the snow amount is a matter of temperature. If it’s 20 degrees outside, we’ll get 14-15" in Boston.

It rained here in Iowa off and on all morning, turned to a steady rain this afternoon, and now it is snowing. We are to get 10 inches of snow on top of the ice from the rain. It will be blowing around tomorrow.

Poor S, he had to work 7 hours at his grocery store job today. Saturday’s are normally busy, then the Super Bowl shopping and storm rush on top of it. He is dead on the couch right now.

Lergnom, I am seeing 8-12 inches predicted in the Boston area. We are on the coast south of Boston. Our town is always on the national news with weather situations. I’m not getting too worked up about this one but I don’t know where we are going to put another foot if we get that much.
