^ Ah yes. Three way tie between Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills and of course San Francisco (love those Malcolm X murals & the soft fragrance of pee in the wind)

Sarcasm aside:

Humboldt: Looks like the setting of a fantasy video game. Too bad about the hippies and being kind of cold, but nothing is perfect. Between the fog, the redwoods, the proximity to that natural wonder of a bay, it’s just no surprise it became a top destination for students studying environmental science, forestry, biology, geography, etc.

CPSLO: The school itself isn’t that breathtaking but I just like the area, it’s your first real taste of leaving hot/dry/stressful So Cal and hitting the central coast. It seems to be perfectly near to everything yet also private.

CPP: Kind of the opposite: The area is rather boring and unattractive, but the school itself is very well maintained. Driving through Pomona the city does NOT illustrate what the Cal Poly campus is like.

My High School Junior just came back from a UC DAVIS visit. He was crazy about the campus, zillions of trees a creek running through campus. We’ve visited Cal Poly Pomona too, but he said Davis was far more impressive as far a scenery.

I’ve been to CSUF, CSULB, CSUN, and have driven past Sonma State. However, I now go to Humboldt State and I think that it is by far the most beautiful campus. How many other schools can say that they have a community forest with trails that begin on campus? C’mon, we have redwoods on campus!!

Most CSUs I’ve seen I’ve found hideous (CSUN, CSULB, CSUSM, CPSLO, CSUCI).

SDSU and CSUF are fairly nice, though. SDSU has some wonderful facilities (and the diving boards are wonderful).

The pictures I’ve seen of CPP and Humboldt look really gorgeous. I absolutely love campuses with lots of greenery (which I weird, considering I’m going to UCSB). Might have to visit my friend who’s going to Humboldt just to see some redwoods…

My Top 5 (In Order):

(1. Humboldt State
(2. Cal Poly Pomona
(3. CSU Monterey Bay
(4. CSU Fresno
(5. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Yes I’m aware that I put Fresno…but we’re talking about the university, not the city itself, right? Haha

How about a ‘least attractive’? I haven’t been to many of the CSU campuses but East Bay is pretty bad.
I went to transfer day at CSU San Bernardino this week and the faculty kept mentioning that it was ranked one of the most beautiful Cal State campuses … which concerns me bc I don’t see it as “beautiful” and not even “a nice campus” I feel that they have a lot renovations to do and surely should paint some of the buildings and renovate the amphitheater and library some of the buildings were nice, one had a lounge with pool tables looked fun
that said this is the only campus I have visited thus far so I have nothing to compare it to
My major is business and we got to hear the professors speak and I really liked them all, I kinda came out questioning what I want to major in because their entrepreneur, I.T/cyber crime, and marketing majors all sound so interesting like can I just major in all of them lol
Also students have one on one connections with professors some students even keep contact with them after they graduate and they have good internship and study abroad programs for business majors. My number one school I want to attend is Long beach and when I was searching for study abroad programs for Busi. majors I didn’t find much:( but the study abroad program for business majors at CSUSB seemed very interesting and cool. They mentioned that marketing majors went to Ireland last summer and the management majors went to Italy
Also I never hear a lot of people talk about CSUSB as a good school or a school they desire to go to unless they have low GPA’s but their number of applicants is growing so I think people are realizing the educational and academic part of the school is very good its just that the campus is not that nice looking and its not ugly or bad looking but nothing special to look at
also as the number of applicants grow stricter qualifications to get accepted increase
they also have a lot of awards like Best this and top that and national clubs that get to travel and compete
The professors did really impress me (im only talking about the Business College here)
SO all in all the campus didn’t impress me much (look wise) They said its a “big” campus I don’t see it as a big campus but then again I have not visited other campuses but the academic part of the school did impress me !
Definitely go check it out yourself bc everybody has their own definitions of a good looking school and others don’t care about how a campus looks
who knows you might like it
ps wow this is the longest CC post I have ever typed haha
I’ve done the campus tour experience of CSU’s with my son, who has submitted applications to various campuses. We have visited the following campuses:
- San Diego State
- CSU San Marcos
- Cal Poly Pomona
- CSU San Bernardino
- CSU Monterey Bay
- Chico State
- CSU Fullerton
- CSU Los Angeles
- Sacramento State
- CSU Northridge
Of these campuses, we found San Diego, San Marcos, Pomona, Sacramento and Chico State to be the most beautiful. His favorite was San Diego, but I thought Sacramento was the prettiest. I have heard great things about Sonoma State and Humboldt.
We found Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Fullerton to be the least attractive of these campuses. Of course, it is always to your benefit to personally tour the campuses you are interested in. Google Images does not entirely give the best representation of a campuses appearance and it’s surrounding area.
Boy, i am surprised at where you’ve got Monterrey on your list. All those abandoned buildings from Ft Ord made both my kids remark that it felt like a zombie apocalypse movie set. It really does cast a doom and gloom shadow on the campus since you can see them in virtually all directions.
How about CS Channel Islands and their old psych hospital bldgs?
