Dude that was dumb.
Hey ad.bc dom perignon isn’t as good as it sounds.

Toyota is a big one.

Starbucks
Sony
Microsoft
Google
Coke
McDonald’s
Air Jordan

toyota is especially popular over here because its AC is powerful and can withstand the summer heat, and the motor is pretty strong as well. But so are ferraris, lambrogenies, GMC, BMW, mustangs, etc (ignore spelling mistakes there!)

coke definitely

Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate Colgate

it is NOT Colgate Abhi(lash?)! I doubt even half the people in my grandmother’s Indian village could even recognize that.

Crest > Colgate

People in Indian villages I have been to don’t even know that a toothpaste is called toothpaste, they just call it Colgate.

ok, so that’s a couple a villages. We’re not talking about just a couple places, but the entire world. When including North, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia, there is no way colgate is the most recognized.

It’s Coke. Everyone knows Coke.

http://www.snopes.com/business/market/brandnames.asp

mcdonalds coke starbucks google durex

Okay, I’m from India.

It is definitely NOT Nike. Or McD’s. Or anything internet related like Google. Or Starbucks.

I’m going to have to agree with Abhishiv, it’s probably Colgate.

What is with all these people saying Colgate… I mean, how often do you really see ads for toothpaste? And how often does anyone see anyone else consuming or using that product? Even in rich countries it is not all that popular.

I think it is quite clear that Coca Cola wins out. Followed possibly by Madonna.

http://bwnt.businessweek.com/brand/2005/index.asp

lol, so much for colgate…

That chart doesn’t show which are the most recognizable — just the ones with the highest net worth.

IBM, Coke, Google, McD these maybe the most recognizable brand names in rich parts of the world, most of the people in India/Africa haven’t heard of them. Colgate is the only brand that’s well known all over the world.

There might not be many ads for toothpastes, but the OP asked about most Recognizable Brand name (and not the “most popular”). He probably wants to know about a brand that is recognizable all over the world.

Coke…lalalalla
