Most Scenic Midwest College Campuses

Sterotype is that the midwest is filled with cornfields and a bland landscape. In reality, many midwest colleges have beautiful landscapes and recreational areas for the outdoorsy types. What are your most scenic campuses, which includes area surrounding campus?

Ill put in Indiana University.

Kenyon! Kenyon! Kenyon! You can’t believe how gorgeous the campus is. And beautiful walks/hikes around campus (Quarry Chapel, anyone?). And tubing down the Kokosing River. Of course, I’m an easterner–some people don’t consider Ohio the midwest.

Carleton, with its 880 acre arboretum.

Wisconsin-Madison–on hills overlooking a large lake while being downtown. Hard to beat.

^ You seem to be quite the Badgers fan.

I’d suggest Hanover College, on the Indiana side of the Ohio River. They have a reeeally beautiful setting.

University of Kansas is surprisingly picturesque. Mount Oread isn’t much by the standards of those near real mountains, but it’s enough to make KU a remarkable campus. One of the few places I know of where you can say you walked uphill to class both ways! (My guess is that when KU was founded they put it on the one spot they couldn’t farm…)

You’re right, KU is a beautiful campus…and Lawrence is a really awesome college town. They’ve definitely got it going on over there.

Luther College, Decorah, Iowa

Another vote for Indiana here

Minnesota… large, urban campus on the banks of the Mississippi River a few blocks away from downtown Minneapolis. Beautiful? You can decide, but it’s definitely not the Midwestern stereotype.

Let me provide a formula for the rest of this thread:

[insert name of my school] is the most scenic Midwest college campus. (I’d probably be that way too, but OSU isn’t Midwestern…and it’s not exactly scenic lol, despite having pretty buildings and all)

Second Luther Campus

Haha, in case you haven’t noticed, that’s pretty much how almost all of the “Which School is the best [ ]” threads are. I did boast in my (future) school, but I didn’t claim it was the most scenic. Just that it doesn’t fit the typical Midwestern stereotype.

According to the formula by osucowboys, NORTHWESTERN! lol.

Lol, yup. In case you haven’t noticed, I try and provide my formula for a lot of these “Which school is the best at ___ threads.” It just helps people save time in coming up with creative plugs for their schools.

I hadn’t noticed… but I appreciate the formulas lol.
