Mother of Groom going Rogue!

No problems, and it was a really fun and welcoming rehearsal dinner picnic to kick off the entire weekend, but was still more preoccupied with those grandchildren than their son. D more bummed about that than him. MOG also give niece her flowers - which also seemed to slight my D’s feelings but not really. She truly thought everything was perfect (and surely it wasn’t), but she was glowing. Truly, my H and I said it hurt to even look at her.

But oh!! Here’s something interesting…even in knowing she and her husband were soon divorcing, the sister of groom was oddly insistent her soon-to-be-X be in all the family pictures. D and her H never liked him, so as it turns out, the only pictures they chose for their album was the one with his parents and unless SOG or her parents bought the other, she is literally in no other pictures. Mostly the day flew by and only in retrospect did somethings stand out. We did have a dunkle (a drunk uncle - on our side, no gene pool connection). So annoying, but ends up contributing to a great story to tell years from now. But lighting over 150 ECO-friendly sky lanterns over the lake was breathtaking.

And yes… you sure do learn to appreciate an RSVP! Although, we still had a sudden illness (our family- cancer dx with first thing monday surgery), one death (groom’s family) and a dying dog (good friend of D’s)… so there were some last minute shuffles but since I was paying for it anyway, all the vendors for whom we had to provide a meal, ate very very well and said as much! And I was glad D had mixed up all the guests… everyone said they had a fabulous time and even our planner commented she had trouble because she couldn’t tell where one family ended and the other began.

Also - i highly recommend end of night pizza… it was inhaled and everyone felt MUCH better in the morning than they would have otherwise! Funny story there… the venue would have usually used a very local place. I don’t like their pizza, so we had our favorite place who does not typically deliver, deliver it. They brought it a week early! The bride and groom at that wedding were very surprised, but not only was it a hit… they apparently did three more weddings this fall! It’s great pizza.

PS - I clicked on my threads and there it was…. no idea why or how. Nothing new there!! :)
