Mother's Day gift for the wife

berurah-

Wow is right!
How very cool is it to be considered the “Best Mom” by your daughter’s boyfriend! Maybe he looking for brownie points??
Somehow, I think it probably fits you fine! What a thoughtful young man your daughter has found.

D’s bf has a less than ideal home situation, and he truly DOES view me, in most ways, as his mother. Earlier in this thread I told about another very special gift he gave me (post number 41) for my birthday this year. He really IS quite a remarkable kid for a 17-year-old! He’s obviously one of the several I consider my “adopteds.”

~berurah, who is still thinking with longing about the yummy (and SO thoughtful) chocolate your precious D gave you!! ;)

Berurah- one of my “adsons” wrote me a beautiful ballad he played on his guitar, which I treasure like your plaque! My kids made a lovely dinner for me this evening. I am a happy mom!
citygirlsmom- what perfume did you get?

Card and call from the oldest, without prompting from dad! The youngest drove 6 hours in the car with us to a traveling exhibit at an art museum. That was unbelievable on so many levels (hates long car trips, not a big fan of art museums, beautiful weather to be playing frisbee, homework to be done, and spending the entire day with the 'rents). One of the best presents ever. And hubby remembered I had mentioned this exhibit once - 2 months ago!

Both of us have lost our mothers so this day is always a little sad, but today was very nice for me. Hope everyone had a great day.

galwaymom~

A personal ballad, written AND performed specially for YOU??? Absolutely priceless!!! What an amazing adson you have there! You must be an amazing mom! ~berurah

So, NJres, are ya gonna tell us how the pan went over??!!??!! ;)

So, I just wanted to share something nice… berurah, you’ll like this…

yesterday when I came home from work, my mother asked my sister and I to come out to the living room… and she gave us both REALLY nice philadelphia eagles jackets (we’re both big eagles fans, however i can’t see myself spending that much money to get a nice jacket). I asked her what the occasion was, and she said she meant to have them here in time to give us on mothers day since we make her such a proud mom, but that they didn’t arrive until tuesday… so she declared tuesday “daughters day” and gave us both an eagles jacket.

I thought it was the sweetest thing. :)

Oh, fendergirl, that IS the sweetest thing ever!!! And I can’t think of a more deserving and lovely daughter than YOU! Your mom sounds truly wonderful, and I’m so glad that she fully realizes what gems you and your sister are! Thanks for posting that!

~berurah

for me mothers day is special becuase both my Ds birhtdays are right around it, the day before, the day after, or on the actual day

This year we went to the piers walked aaround, enjoyed the rare sun, with my MOM, DH and two Ds…a nice easy afternoon of noshing
My Ds gifts to me were earrings bought at a street fair to benefit Darfur and another cause…it was nice

this is my new jacket… it’s so sweet looking… I really really love it. I don’t think i could of picked a nicer one out myself.

fendergirl~

Oh, that’s just GORGEOUS!!! And the BEST thing about wearing that great jacket is that you will always think of your mom when you do! :)

~b.

Okay, those of you who expected a big sweet gift from your husband for Mother’s Day–what are you getting/doing for your husband for Father’s Day? Will you make the same amount of fuss over “his” day? Will your kids?

I was thinking of getting my dad the star wars trilogy on dvd, but then i remembered that i got it for him on VHS about 10 years ago and it’s still in the original wrapping… so i’m NOT buying it again :stuck_out_tongue: His Lord of the rings trilogy that my mom got him for christmas is still in it’s wrapping as well.

I’ll probably wind up getting him a video game, and pay for a large bucket of balls at a driving range (which is probably like $10)… I think that sounds like a good gift to me… although I just had a thought that maybe I should get him a wireless controller for his PS2… i think he has enough games and i know my mom gets sick of tripping over his controller cords… :P

does that sound like a good gift for fathers day?

I wasn’t expecting “a big sweet gift” (not sure why it’s necessary to attach such a negative connotation), but yes, our family will have a similar type family celebration for Father’s Day. The “fuss” is usually a special meal and his gifts usually include books and maybe golf balls or a golf glove. My kids always make both days special.

fendergirl, your ideas sound great!

much better than the alternative game-unwrapping machine(the de-cellophaner)
