Talk about childhood, today I drove kid #2 through what I called “memory lane”, and pointed out where she went to elementary school, the field where she used to play soccer, and the middle school playground. I even suggested that when she has kids and she can take them to these places, down to memory lane, when she and her family come and visit her dad and I. A slight subconscious manipulation and the good thing was she was not complaining, I was very surprised, so I think it should be good this Mother’s Day. Last year, one kid had to work, the other kid was not as mature as this year.
Leaving to pick up youngest at the airport in an hour. A last minute decision to come down since she had Monday free. We haven’t seen her since winter break. Can’t wait to hug her. My oldest moved back to our area 3 months ago and my S has lived in town since graduating college. It is rare I have all three together. I am grateful as I know it will get rarer as each year passes.
We will all go to my inlaws to celebrate my FIL birthday and Mothers Day.
My own Mom has been gone 11 years. I feel blessed to have a great MIL who treats me like a D.
We will have an extended family dinner with my folks and sibs and their spouses and kids at country club. Our S & D will meet us in SF in about a month to go to the opera with my folks there. We will also see both kids in mid-August, as a niece is getting married and they will both be coming home to attend. After that, may not see much of them until December.
Going to have a relaxing day! Last Mothers’s Day before my son leaves for college. Son is working to 5:00 and then hubby will grill out. My daughter used to make a Mother’s Day cake but she got lazy and designated that to my husband this year!
Oh Donna, that puts everything into perspective… That’s 40 mothers’ days you spent without your mom. Hugs to you. I am blessed that my mom - knock on wood! - is still ok. My dear MIL is no longer with us. She tragically departed life 24 and a half years ago.
abasket, to address your point that Hs have nothing to do with this holiday. As my lawyer friend says, her H was both cause in fact and proximate cause of her becoming a mother:… 
So he has to pay up the judgement!
Got my buch of roses today because we ran out of eggs and fruit and decided to go to Costco. 
My Burberry denim skirt is here, and it is awesome. Let’s see if the overworked, overstudied kiddos will remember to text me.

OMG DonnaL. So sorry that this is the way you remember this time since Mother’s Day always falls around this time.
I am having a good weekend, so far. I am always concerned about saying such things because it will instantly change. I am a bit sensitive because the last 8 years or so have been rough.
So H surprised me with a Friday night Todd Rundgren concert away at a casino/resort not far ( 2 hours) from where we live. Saturday night was spent seeing my talented S in a community theater production.
I also received a few flower bouquets from kids.
So I feel very blessed.
Got my new Fitbit HR which is what I wanted ever since my old Fitbit wax recalled. DS#2 alluded to a gift but I don’t know what it is. DH folded the laundry ( I fell asleep when it was in the dryer) and he put up with an afternoon of shopping Friday. So all is good. Happy Mother’s Day to all.
I do get to see one kid for Mothers Day - we are attending a play at his school. Of course he’ll be more focused on his girlfriend :-). That’s ok.

We went out for dinner last night, instead of today. Not doing anything special today. Probably just a bike ride, walking the dogs and puttering in the yard. Part of my mom’s day gift is H doing al lthe edging in the gardens - which I have been nagging him to do for weeks.

Luncheon yesterday with the sons of g/f who died.
Today, dinner with relatives. Already been to gym, and the beach awaits.
Got a big hug and kiss from my husband this morning for Mothers day. He also made me breakfast in bed( actually couch), one kid is deep asleep, the other one has not arrived yet.

H is volunteering this morning. I am relaxing. Will spend time with D later. After dinner, she will text S and remind him to call me… D gave me a beautiful card and gift yesterday. I am sure there will be a new hanging basket by the front door some time today, as there has been for the last 29 years. Thanks, H. :x

Missing my kids–they don’t nearby. They (and their partner/husband too) gave me a great gift–made a nice donation to the charity walk (benefits an organization serving cancer patients) I’m doing at the end of the month.
