Mouth Breathing VS. Nose Breathing

Quick, which one are you doing now.

They say nose breathing is more natural because it catches the dirt and stuff with your nostril hairs while the mouth just sucks everything in. Also, I just read that mouth breathing gives you sleep/attention and an abnormal facial structure but I take that with a grain of salt.

I think I might be doing a combination of both. Trying to convert to nose breathing atm…

Same. I’ve been doing a lot of mouth-breathing lately, and that form of breathing doesn’t have the extra line of defense against dust, etc. that nose-breathing has.

I prefer nose breathing, that’s the nose’s job, not my mouth.

When i was younger, I used to breathe from my mouth literally 95% of the time. and then my mom put tape over my mouth so I got used to breathing from my nose. Now I’m normal and I breathe through my nose 95% of the time. :D

both

10 char

you should always nose breath. why do you think dogs die at a younger age than us? because they mouth breath.

Why would you ever want to breath with your mouth? O.o I only do that when I run and am absolutely pooped, at which point I can’t help it/don’t consciously think about it.

It’s just something people get used to as they grow, like using right/left hand primarily.

And dogs are a totally different species.

I nose breathe all the time.
The only exceptions are when my nose is stuffed up or I’m swimming because in both instances, it’s pretty much impossible to nose breathe.

inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth

Mostly with the nose, but with my mouth when I’m running.

What is the *****ing point of these threads…
Go get a hobby or something.

Im going to the college life thread…more real threads than this.

^lighten up a bit. It was your decision to read this thread in the first place.

^^ how is cellular respiration not interesting

■■■■ now

I’ve got really bad allergies and my nose is plugged up almost all the time. Needless to say, I’m a mouth breather.

@gotmilk
I kinda doubt that’s the primary reason we live longer than them. :P

I only breathe through my mouth when I’m running.

^samesies.

Or if I’m intentionally breathing slowly/deeply to calm myself down.
