I don’t know if this sounds like a stupid question, but on the mpulse audition requirements page, it asks for two songs, more than 32 bars. I was always aware Michigan was Two 16 bar cuts? Am I just overthinking this?
That is certainly a departure from the Michigan standard, but my advice would be…if they are asking for 32 bars, give them 32 bars!
Michigan requires exactly 16 bars when auditioning to enter the university as an MT student. The Mpulse program for high school students has different requirements and 32 bar minimum is the requirement for that. If you are accepted and attend, they will spend a lot of time working on how to properly do 16 bar cuts for auditions. Your kid will be an expert at audition cuts after attending Mpulse!
