Not again. So sad.
No surprise here… whoever thought this wouldn’t happen again is living under a rock.
I sort of hated posting it, but I find myself holding my breath each time I read one of these stories and doing a mental sweep of my mind of who I might know (and hoping that it is no one) in the area of the shooting.
The sad thing about this location is that, because it’s a community college in a very rural area, most of its students/staff will be from the very immediate area and people will likely know multiple victims.
Horrible.
When will these shootings end? When we’re all dead?
I thought you were reporting the one from the other day. I don’t know which one we are talking about anymore. I feel so bad that I’m becoming more and more numb about it. It’s just awful.
^ The truth? Yes. It will take a nipponized bit of the old sixth avenue el to stop it.
As of now, count is estimated at 7-10 dead and 20 injured. I’m not familiar with this area, but if the area is as rural as they’re saying on the news, the local hospital is probably not prepared for such a catastrophe. God bless the wounded, and God bless the health care workers trying to do their best in this situation.
I used to live a few hours away from Roseburg…it’s a hard-luck area with a fairly high unemployment rate, 60%+ republican, 90% white. It’s a tight-knit community without a lot of newcomers. It will be devastating for them.
We’re getting wildly varied reports up here, but this is so sad and horrifying. We are related by marriage to a young lady who is from Roseburg, OR and who fortunately came up here to Seattle to go to college. She’d likely have been at the community college in question if she had not. From I’m hearing, the community cannot handle all the injured and is flying some to larger cities for treatment. I hope the best for all of them.
This is so horrible. I am glad your relative is safe Sseamom, and so sad for those who are not.
15 dead so far. Unbelievable.
Hayden, you are correct. They’re flying some of the worst injured to Eugene and Portland. They’re doing full-on coverage on a local radio station here in Seattle. Southern Hope’s description of the area is correct. We’re related by marriage to a young lady who came here to attend college and is living with her grandparents to save money. Her life (and that of her dad and siblings) was very hard. It’s likely she’d have been at that college today had she not come up here.
15 dead reported.
mods can you combine threads…
15 now? Omg. They’re still saying 10 on the station I have on.
The source that originally said 15 is now revising that down to 7-10 based on Oregon State Police information.
As with most of these horrific events, the very early details will likely be unreliable.
We need a mass shooting stickied thread. There will be another one next week. 142 since Sandy Hook,
