Mumps Outbreaks are Worst in a Decade (College Campuses Hit Hard)

FYI if you have a child at a university, especially one where there has been an outbreak, it might be worth looking into getting a third dose of MMR (not sure if you can just get a mumps booster) over the winter break.

Especially young men, one would think, due to the risk of infertility.

Wow. Mumps is not a silly nuisance; in males, it very often leads to testicular shrinkage and can lead to sterility in severe cases (rare, but real risk).

If someone says “mumps-schmumps”, have them look at this:

Tom Cruise had mumps when he was young; I remember the article inferred that he was sterile and his child was born after a fairly significant battle with infertility on his end.

Hmm. From what his first wife Mimi Rogers said, he had a different issue. B-)

Isn’t Tom Cruise an anti-vaxxer? :-<

I think Tom Cruise might be an alien, and the real issue was that his sperm was biologically incompatible with human eggs. The mumps thing is just a cover.
