Here’s a couple of examples…
A friend’s daughter had back surgery a couple of years ago for scoliosis. Based on the xray photos of that which the friend showed me, the friend’s daughter has twice as much hardware in her as Mangione, but friend’s daughter isn’t killing people over it.
Another friend’s eldest, a few years ago, had scoliosis so bad (which back braces didn’t help much with) that he, too, needed back surgery to correct it. His back was so out of whack that after the surgery finished, he was 3" taller than before. And he has 3 TIMES as much hardware as Mangione does.
That person, also, is not going out shooting people because they’re mad at the healthcare system. Person #2 became an EMT.
I would bet you money that Mangione’s parents are just sick with despair over what their son has done, and how their son’s life is forever changed with the decision he made.
Don’t know if this is still the case, but it used to be in New York state that 1st degree murder charges were reserved for the murder of a police officer or prison guard.
A friend’s college kid posted twice on social media yesterday, once to call Daniel Penny a “murderer”, and a second time to call Luigi Mangione “an American hero”. Definitely dumbfounding…
Or someone had told Adams something that led him to believe they had a name (or the game of telephone had led someone else to believe they had a name, and that person told Adams that), even though they didn’t.
Doesn’t have to be a “Someone wasn’t telling the truth” situation, it could simply be that someone was malinformed.
Yeah, I saw that pic. I’ve also seen the pics of the kids of my 2 friends I mentioned and my friends’ kids have more screws in their back than that. But it’s not a contest, of course.
If Mangione experienced complication post-surgery or if there was some sort of malpractice that occurred on the part of the surgeon, the best way to get that resolved would not be through murder.
Re: recognizing faces. I’m staying in a hotel a few time zones away from where the suspect was arrested, and I young man just walked past me on the garden path. Hope they got the real one as this young man looked so similar to the suspect’s photos!
