Music colleges vs. community college

Hello!
So I have a question regarding music colleges in California and community colleges. My top pick for music colleges in CA is Musicians Institute (M.I.) while my second back-up choice is LACM (La College of Music). I technically got accepted into M.I., but the thing is it’s extremely expensive and I’m starting to really worry over the financial part as I have never taken out a loan nor want to be in debt. While on the other hand there is a community college called Palomar College and though it might not have the top-notch music program I might want, it does have other degrees I also want to get and I could possibly go there paying little to nothing because it is a community college and is much cheaper (also with the BOG Waiver fee). I have my choices of college, but I’m just afraid of the finances and whether I would be able to see my talent grow as a musician.

P.S. If there are any current or former students of M.I., LACM, and / or Palomar please let me know your thoughts!

You might want to ask this in the music major thread. What instrument are you interested in studying? I do know that many of the CSUs and UCs have strong music departments. And the CC route is a great entry path to their programs.

I agree with BearHouse. CSU Northridge, for example, is well known for music. And it is much less expensive than a private school.

Cc=>CSU/UC for music is a fantastic possibility (great quality and better value than your other choices). However you need to choose your CC well wrt your instrument.
