Music industry lost another one RIP Glenn Frey

Wow, this one hurts. I have loved The Eagles for decades. I took my daughter and her best friend to see them for their first concert. So sad to hear

This one makes me really sad. Saw the Eagles in concert many times including the Hotel California tour when I was a teenager.

oh no. : (

Hotel California was the first well-engineered rock album I heard on a really good stereo. Plus, I was high. When I heard those first few notes ring out, I thought I’d died.

Why is there no tequila in the house when I really need it?

Wow. The first concert I ever attended was the Eagles in Dallas, Texas in 1977. Very sad. :frowning:

Sad… :frowning:

Very, very sad. My favorite song is “Peaceful Easy Feeling”.

I saw Glenn Frey once, eating at Dan Tana’s in Hollywood. He was alone and I didn’t want to disturb him so I didn’t approach him or talk to him. The documentary on the Eagles that is on Netflix says that Dan Tana’s (a restaurant) is the place they got the idea for “Lyin’ Eyes” because there were all these beautiful kept women there.

I’d always hoped to see them in concert, maybe in Vegas. Now I never will.

i agree with @lje62 – this one hurts.

One of my favorites for decades also. I somehow got to see the Eagles in great seats, for fairly Inexpensively in DC, maybe in 2008. Seems like it was a benefit tour for democrats or something. It may have included the Dixie Chicks too. I remember seeing them with Joe Walsh in the late 70s or early 80s. They may be my all time favorite band. Very sad.

So many good songs. Lyin’ Eyes is just one.

If you haven’t already, watch The History of the Eagles documentary on Netflix.

I read that Bruce Springsteen played Rebel Rebel at his opening tour concert in Pittsburgh this weekend in honor of Bowie. I wonder if he’ll play an Eagles song tomorrow night when we see him in Chicago.

The first concert I attended was the Eagles - mid '70’s in the Chicago area. So sorry to hear this.

The Eagles posted the announcement on their web site, and ended it with the following:

So many Eagles songs are the short version of the “soundtrack of my life”. Just moved The Heat Is On to the top of my running playlist.

" If you haven’t already, watch The History of the Eagles documentary on Netflix. "

I had a DVD that got lost in the move…not sure if this was it, but thanks for the heads up, because I was trying to recall and I can check it out on Netflix

One of my favorites. The soundtrack of my youth.

Just devastating . . . my older son texted me the news. Couldn’t believe it.

I have his “Solo Collection” cassette and will have to buy it on iTunes now. I looked up who wrote “Take It Easy” as I had always thought that Jackson Browne wrote the whole song. Jackson had most of it written, but had writers block and gave it to Glenn who was living upstairs. Frey added a key portion to the song that gave it life.

I wish that I had gone to an Eagles concert. RIP Glenn Frey.

I don’t think I would have survived high school without Hotel California.
