Just listened to Ina Garten’s new playlist–her favorite love songs, just in time for Valentine’s.
It’s lots of fun—Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Aretha, Al Green, Marvin Gaye and plenty of other artists…
Made me think about playlists in general. Do you listen to playlists? Do you have a source for playlists that you enjoy? Do you create your own? If so, do your playlists have themes? What makes a good playlist?

I’m old school, barely a step above making mix tapes lol. I make my own playlists out of favorite songs from my old CDs (all loaded on my computer), as well as iTunes songs I’ve downloaded. I have playlists for hiking, biking, walking, driving, country, and favorites. The exercise lists have slight differences in tempo. I have favorite bands from the 80s that I like to listen to when I drive. I tried Spotify or Pandora or something a few years ago when I was working, but didn’t keep up with it. I end up downloading a lot of songs that I like from movies and tv shows that are random and from bands I’ve never heard of.
I make playlists and listen to other playlists on Spotify. Largely the lists I make are for running/other exercise purposes. Or long drives. Mostly really upbeat more current music. We have a family membership so we can download podcasts and have access when we are out and about. We love it.
