thank you!! i’m trying to avoid having just one dream school, but i’m really growing attached to the new mt program at oberlin. i did a masterclass with the program director vicky bussert (previously the head of mt at baldwin wallace) a few months ago, and my audition in january was the best i’ve done yet, both in terms of my performance and my experience with the panel. decisions come out in march though, so for now we wait!!

i also have my callback for umich tomorrow, which is another big hitter on my list. currently in a hotel in ann arbor mentally preparing myself for everything lol!!

i’m probably like the only person that has a “withdrew” category, but i was evaluating my original list one day and i realized i had way too many schools and not enough time to commit myself to any of them. so i did more research, visited campuses, talked to alumni, etc, and pared my list down from there. to the people that were accepted into any of those schools, don’t let my personal decision to withdraw my applications from them affect your final decision!! you know what’s best for you!

My understanding is this weekend is their one and only, final, callback. I heard last year there 40-50 kids there and the two days are a combination of masterclasses and auditions. My child was told to expect to be there all day both days.

My daughter withdrew from MMC as well, after she was waitlisted. By the time she got waitlisted, she’d already been accepted to Emerson and Montclair for MT, which are definitely high interest schools for her.
Congrats on your CCM acceptance and BAL at UMich tomorrow!

Auditions are over for my grandson and probably to most. Now the wait begins!

Yay for your grandson! My daughter has one more this week and then we’re free!
To wait.

Has anyone heard of decisions from Syracuse MT from NYC Unified? I’ve only heard of LA Unified and Campus so far. All yes’s. I’m assuming NY Unified decisions will go out in March.

i auditioned at ny unifieds and haven’t heard anything yet, but i strongly recommend against tracking decisions from schools that send them out on a rolling basis. it’s really adverse to mental health and besides, it’s far from the most accurate way to determine what your own decision will be. good luck though!!

My daughter got a yes from Syracuse MT on the 14th. She auditioned on campus on the 8th.

Yes, the USC weekend is two days. There were 50 people in person (for the weekend) and 20 virtually. (Virtual was Frid 14th)

Out of 70, they will pick 14? If that is the case, it is better odds than Michigan!

Texas State sending out acceptance phone calls :tada:

40 in-person at USC this past weekend, 20 virtual, total 60. They will accept about 20, hope to yield 12-14 in the class. They have a secret waitlist. If USC accepts you into BA Theatre, that’s the only clue that you “might be waitlisted” for MT BFA. The BA Theatre offer doesn’t guarantee you’re actually on their waitlist. They might pull you from the BA Theatre list sometime in April, but after May 1, if they have any more late openings, those offers will go to the students who fully committed to USC’s BA Theatre program for fall. This is what Sergio (the associate dean for admissions) eventually divulged at the end of the parent tour on Saturday on how their waitlist kind of works. He was vague in the parent meeting, as he just said “we have a waitlist, but we won’t tell you if you’re on it.” My sense is that since USC Admissions either accepts you or doesn’t, the way you come off the waitlist is by Sergio changing your major from BA to BFA.

That is a good information. Thank you.

technically no, but i do get what you’re saying. going from prescreen passes to the final decisions, the odds are about 20% for usc and (according to the numbers from a presentation at my callback) about 5% for umich. that’s narrow, but in comparison to the total number of applicants for each program
 yikes. these programs are exclusive!!
