It’s combined artistic and academic because they weight academics with the artistic portion. Go to the portal, it should say “Congratulations, ! You’re a Miami Hurricane.” Then just below that on the right, does it say for Major: “Theatre Arts B.F.A. - Musical Theatre” ? If so, you got in, and into MT. (This is what it is showing for my kid.)

It is so hard to watch those senior showcases with an open mind. My son and I have had some conversations about that aspect and what is produced. The subjectivity goes both ways I guess

Just got rejected from Pace and CMU. It was expected but it still sucks lol. I only have one school to hear back from but it’s NYU so I’m not holding my breath. I’ve got two waitlists for MT programs and… that’s about it.
Does anyone know the likelihood of the Rider or MMC waitlist moving? I just wanna know the actual chances of this happening.
I auditioned for MMC on Feb 8th and still don’t have my decision. Did anyone else audition in that time frame and get there’s?

Yup! I auditioned later than you— February 16th and I got a waitlist decision around 2-3 weeks ago
My kiddo got into MMC but won’t be attending, so that’s one spot that will open!!

You can wait out those wait lists to see what happens, but it may take some time. Are you excited about the prospect of attending both of these programs?
I know you’ve been trying to figure out your other options, and I know you’ve got some ideas about other avenues to take right now. I think you’re just going to need patience and a willingness to live in uncertainty for a while, which I know really sucks.

I actually really like the idea of going to MMC! A lot of people I admire attended there, it’s offering me good scholarships, and its in New York and near so many cool dance studios. Plus the Northeastern merger is great for me academics-wise and the workshops look sick. I’ve gotten into MMC academically and only need to get off that dumb waitlist 
.
The wait is the hardest part. I also don’t wanna get my hopes up and then still get rejected anyway

I have heard that the MMC waitlist moves, but I’m not sure how much. It’s definitely possible you’ll get an offer, but obviously you can’t count on it. This is where the patience and uncertainty parts come in! It’s still early and things can change a lot within the next couple of months. I hope they do for you!

I appreciate your point of view. I could afford limited travel/coaching for my kids, and I was shocked at how expensive it is to be competitive in performing arts. But I was fortunate because I also have an MFA and am an acting (and college) coach, so that allowed me to invest somewhat in music/vocal coaching. Even so, as a classically trained singer, I did some of that myself too. It’s just so expensive. No way my kids could have worked professionally as kids or been competitive at college level had I been paying for acting coaching. Even now, I am very conscious of parents on limited budgets like me, and I try to keep things affordable for my clients. It’s kind of odd that this field has such inequity, especially considering the earning prospects down the road! Hoping the best for your kid.

Can you tell us more about this? My son applied all studios and I thought this go out March 28 possibly? Are you early decision or early decision 2?
NYU Regular Decision has not come out yet. Will be possibly as late as April 1.
