Oh my gosh YES! :raising_hands: congratulations :confetti_ball:

Fight On :victory_hand:t2::heart::yellow_heart:

Boco RD today?

Admissions said April 1st, electronically.

Did they tell you that in an email? I was told end of March but who knows lol

I can see that last year Boco rd released on Friday, March 29? Not sure if that matters at all

Yes my D emailed admissions and that’s what they said. She was also told end of March in her audition.

Yes! My friends in the program heard last year March 28th and some March 29th. We see what happens!

Thank you. Ridiculously high cost. $99,138/year. What kind of jobs these kids can get after graduation, I wonder? He is my grandson, not my problem!
In my opinion, he should go to medical school and musical theater should be a hobby!
We have shortage of doctors. One of my relative got a DO in Internal Medicine and got a Job offer from Kaiser at $400,00/year starting salary! I have 5 grandsons and none of them want to study medicine, in part because it takes long time and hard work before they start earning money. I also have a granddaughter, and she is a physician. More and more girls are going to medical school. That is a good thing.

I’m a clinical pharmacist and healthcare, for the most part, is a brutal and soul draining industry. Solid career path and very stable, but you need to make sure you’re cut out for it. Since COVID, healthcare professionals continue to leave the field and suicide rates aren’t good either. All that to say, medicine is not a path for one to take just for the money.

So women now outnumber men in medical school admissions. As for medicine as a career path, getting into medical school is very difficult and extremely expensive. I am a doctor and would not recommend medical school unless you love it. A new doctor salary of 400k is extremely unusual and don’t forget that the typical doctor going into practice is at least 30 with 300-400k debt

Huge amounts of debt for either MT or medicine is a major decision. However, a 40 to 50 year career is a long time! Gotta love what you do. I don’t plan to ever retire so I’ve told my kids to shoot for the stars and give it their best. However, being financially responsible is important, too. BTW: my daughter has it down to 3 options
NYU, Elon or Oklahoma (wait listed at OK). She loved her trip to Elon this week! Seems like a North Carolina paradise

I have a cousin in Cary, North Carolina. It is so nice there. Don’t you think NYU is better! I am a legacy computer guy and know nothing about arts!

Agreed! I had no issue sending s21 to UNCSA. He is graduating this spring and ready to start in the world.

Elon is a HIGHLY selective program for BFA MT with a proven track record of sending grads to Broadway, and NYU is literally on Broadway’s doorstep. Price and location are clearly the key differences. It’s up to my 18 yo LOL

My daughter got her rejection yesterday. We heard from a current student that the date was April 1st but looks like they’re a little early.

Trying to figure out The New School. Anyone have insights or experience with their School of Drama BFA? My daughter was accepted and loved her audition with them at Chicago Unifieds but I haven’t seen this program mentioned much here. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Elon was our kiddo’s number one choice
until it wasn’t, if you get my drift. It’s a great program and very highly regarded. We were impressed. . .and disappointed in the end. Congrats to your daughter for getting in!!

Our kiddo got into a bunch of great schools, including NYU, and now needs to make a decision, albeit with input from us on cost. And as you note, Elon is significantly less costly and just as highly regarded.

That said, does anyone have a sense of when NYU releases its aid offers? We’re in that zone between being able to afford and benefitting from their generous support for families who make less than $100K/year. Supposedly they don’t offer merit aid, but I don’t know if that’s actually true. In any case, it’s the last piece of the puzzle. Kiddo is leaning strongly in favor of another program, but a substantial offer from NYU
if that’s even a possibility
could tilt the playing field.
