Musical Theater College Admission 2025

Ok I’ve been coming on here with bad news recently but I have some semi-good news. I have been waitlisted at U Mich for LSA. It has a drama major and I can still do a musical theatre minor! It’s not a yes— but it ain’t a no.

i think we’ve all been undervaluing the significance of getting waitlisted in general. in many regards, getting waitlisted is actually much more similar to getting a yes than a no! it’s a school saying that they want you to be a member of their very small cohort, so long as enough space can be made available for you be trained with the same amount of attention and respect as everyone else. at least, that’s what i like to believe!!

She just got back from visiting Elon and is ready to make it official. $102K/year for NYU and $104K/year for USC…zero aid. Elon gave her $7500 for merit and another $5K a year for being selected as a ‘vocal scholar’ (given to only 15 individuals per class). So, it appears North Carolina is her next stop on this journey. NYU and USC are dreams, but a fruitful reality should yield good things, too, hopefully. Sadly, you can only attend 1 school at a time LOL. Godspeed to your kiddo and may everything fall into place :folded_hands:t2:

My daughter has a former classmate who’s there doing that exact program and she loves it. Otterbein is a well-respected program, so you should definitely set up a program/campus visit!

Amazing news! Congrats!
It feels good to get to this place, doesn’t it?
Mine just committed to TXST and couldn’t be more thrilled!

My daughter has also been accepted to Otterbein’s MT program with an integrated dance minor. It has been at the top of our list since we started looking at schools because it would allow her to dance daily and because someone we consulted with who has worked on and continues to be involved in producing Broadway shows considers it a top 20 program. Just one person’s opinion but I do feel she has had good insight throughout this process. We will be visiting in a few weeks and they have set up a great schedule for us. Hoping my daughter loves it. Congrats to you!

Does anyone know anything about Ohio Northern’s MT program or Roosevelts?

Hey Everybody! I am a prospective BFA Acting Student starting college in Fall of 2025. I wanted to ask about what people have heard about these BFA programs and where I should go. I have been admitted to these programs and touring some of them soon in the next month.

Hello everyone! I’ve been stalking this thread for a while, so I figured I’d finally add on! I’m from a small town in South Dakota, so this process has been crazy but very educational for me! These are my current results for this audition season:

Accepted:
University of South Dakota, Nebraska Wesleyan, Brenau, SCAD, Long Island University, Marymount Manhattan (BFA Acting), Nazareth University, Roosevelt CCPA

Waitlisted:
Missouri State

Not accepted from live audition:
Shenandoah, University of Michigan, Texas State, Pace

Did not pass prescreen:
Elon

Still waiting on: Boston Conservatory

I’m at a weird part of my process because if I get in to Boco, it would be my top choice, despite it being SO expensive. I fell in love with Boston while there, and I was very impressed by their campus and recourses. However! I’m trying to narrow it down without Boco because I don’t really know what to expect in regards to acceptance or if my family can afford it.

Right now, I think my top choices are CCPA and LIU, but I’m extremely undecided. At Roosevelt, I will get to experience the city life, and I will get a lot more professional opportunities. The dorms were my fav part of the campus, but I thought the theatre facilities were a bit small. I also like being surrounded by all types of performing arts. It is about 42k a year for me, but I would not need a car at all obviously. At LIU, I will get to experience more of a college atmosphere while still being close to the city. Also, I got a full tuition academic scholarship, so I will be spending about 17k a year. Therefore, I will have the chance to spend money to go into the city. But, to be clear, my priorities are the training and career opportunities. Low tuition is something that could give me more flexibility to chase other opportunities though. For LIU, I’m not yet sold on the training I will get there. I know they are acting heavy, which is great! I want to be in an atmosphere that really challenges me, especially in dance, and I did not do a dance call for either school, so I don’t have anything to judge them off of.

I’m still open to learning more about Missouri State, but I haven’t yet emailed them about continued interest because I’m not sure I would commit if accepted. Please reply with any information you have on these programs to aid me in my decision!!!

Sent you a private message. My daughter is a senior at LIU, so please feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer.

When is everyone thinking Boco RD is coming out? I am thinking tomorrow.

Sorry just saw this. It was an acceptance.

My daughter thinks Tuesday because that would be April 1. But I’m hoping it’s tomorrow!

Hello! Would love to outsource some opinions on BFA Acting at CCPA/Roosevelt vs BFA Theatre and Performance at Emerson with the hopes of auditioning into BFA Acting.
