Musical Theater College Admission 2025

Heard from Boco!

Hello! Can I also ask for advice!

I’m into the BFA Acting Programs at Boston University, Syracuse, Point Park and Rider. I’m from Chicago and just really excited to go somewhere east coast! Money wise Point Park and Rider and really pulling through, not so much with the other two, even though I feel they are programs that could offer me more opportunities. I think I’d be happy at any of these places, I just love to act and want to choose the place that will help me do that the fastest. Where should I go?

Me too! :+1:t2:

Good news???

The program at BU is exceptional. They also do allow you to take non acting classes. Can your family afford the expense. I would be very hesitant to suggest loans for a bfa acting degree

Hi- out of curiosity, are you East or West river? We’re also small town (West river) and my daughter is planning to apply for BFAs next year (current Junior.) Its a daunting process! Congrats on your choices- they’re good ones!

Hi! I live East river - about a half hour from Sioux Falls. Good luck to your daughter! It is hard not to feel a little out of the loop coming from a small midwest town because there is a lot less opportunity. However, I’ve found that you can use it to your benefit as well because it’s more uncommon. I actually wrote about it in many of my college essays! The best schools just want to meet students where they’re at, so tell your daughter to embrace it!!

Thank you so much for the insights!! Enjoy your training and break a leg!

Husband just got the RIF (fired) notice from HHS. Guess DD is not going to her dream schools of Syracuse or NYU.

SO sorry for that news. I hope he can find another job soon.

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that! I would definitely contact the Financial aid office of these schools and tell them about this before giving up. Most schools would take this into consideration and give you more financial aid.

already did. They will not consider changes until 10 weeks after his last day of work, which is significantly after May 1. So we cannot take a risk on an expensive school to get minimal help. Thankfully she has some offers with great scholarships at other programs. But, I am very angry!

That is so heartbreaking. I’m so sorry.

Oh that sucks so much! I wish the best for you and your family. Your kid is obviously mega talented and will succeed no matter what environment she’s in.

I am so, so sorry. HHS work IS valued by many (most, in fact, though people often don’t realize it.) So sorry for him, and your family.

Hi! I’ve asked this question a few times but has anyone NOT heard from Marymount? I still haven’t and they have said they’ll get back to me today, but nothing.

That’s… so strange. From my experience they’re incredibly quick to respond. If they don’t respond today— I’d call the admissions office tmrw.
