My kid had a couple last minute offers off of Waitlists last week. Happy to say one of them was the school that was his top choice since his audition day! We were both incredibly stressed out about the decision up until that moment. I hope everyone has landed somewhere that speaks to them! Congratulations everyone!

when do we know how many are in the USC Musical Theater BFA for the class of 2029?

My son will be pursuing a BFA in MT at USC. He’s not certain but he thinks there are about 14 in the class and 6-7 are boys.
I saw 2024 MT graduation Ceremony and I saw only one boy! May be it is because of COVID, some boys dropped out. My grandson is also in MT BFA program. We are local.

People were accepted from the MMC waitlist last year, but my D wasn’t told until mid-May.
Hi… I know this is an older post and I don’t know if you’re still lurking around here, but did you find Moonifiedd. to be a good experience? Do you think it was less stressful or more advantageous than unifieds or other audition mediums? Ds fall play this year interferes with Moonifieds and we’re trying to make a choice on which one she should do.
As my child begins her chosen BFA program, I am finally coming to terms with the audition process.
It was rollercoaster of an experience. I know most people have moved on from this thread, so I am leaving this here more as an offering to the next batch of MT hopefuls. Especially the ones who might have had lesser amount of experience.
My daughter was absent from the stage from 8th grade -10th grade. She made a decision to pursue MT in the spring of her junior year. We were not well prepared and due to my mother’s health and some financial considerations she did not have an MT coach, she did not participate in any unified auditions and she did not travel out of state for any live auditions.
I was not sure if she would get any offers at all, but her first prescreen pass (top 10 program) came almost immediately after submission and it gave us hope.
In the end she has landed in a BFA Acting program at a school that checked all of her boxes and offered her an endowed artistic scholarship.

If we could do it all again, I would do a unified audition, plan to travel for more in person auditions and we would hire an MT coach. But, if anyone in the class of 2026 reads this, just know that there is hope even if you haven’t had a ton of leading roles, voice lessons or prep time!

Hello kasha1313, how did you get on with your MT journey? My S in an Australian student athlete and theatre major at Community College at the moment.
Wow, that’s an excellent result though. Truly unified and such made made things more easy and maybe hiring a coach might have helped with the stress of figuring things out or the narrowing down of choices but overall your results are really quite stellar for when you started.
