Musical Theatre Majors - College Admission 2024

This is very helpful - thanks!

From MT Parents Facebook page, there is a post from one parent saying she heard back from CMU that they are going to release remaining decisions on this Friday 3/22.

Does anyone have any insight on the possibility of getting off waitlists? More specifically, Emerson, Pace and Marymount Manhattan? My child got accepted academically to Pace and MMC but was waitlisted for the MT program

MMC is definitely a possibility, know someone who came off the list. For many schools they move.

My daughter is also on the waiting list for MMC. She’s been accepted for MT at Syracuse, Emerson, and Nazareth. A couple schools redirected her to vocal music, but that wasn’t what she wanted to do…

My D has gotten into a couple of BFA MT programs, CCPA/Roosevelt, but is waitlisted for NYU and Ball State. Anyone know someone who has gotten into NYU MT through waitlisting?

Also… how does anyone afford NYU?

Excellent question about affording NYU. We are wondering the same about Syracuse.

When going into BFA programs there is a lot of optimism and desire but very very few will have a good ROI on MT/acting programs. I would think very hard about putting your retirement at risk for these programs and definitely do not take loans (this is from someone who has a third year at one of the top acting programs in the country). He chose a much less expensive program than NYU or syracuse and we are so thankful since he will be applying for grad school.

Regarding MMC: does anyone know if they have practice rooms for the students to utilize outside of regular lessons?
My D is waitlisted there, but my husband didn’t see any or ask when they visited.

Committed - Pace BFA Acting with Honors Scholarship (EA)
