My ACT scores :(

If you’re val and have pretty good ECs and get that ACT score up, you could probably get a full ride to some school out of state (UPitt comes to mind).

Millancad - Yeah, I had no idea either (guessed on about 50% of the Science).

Ended up with a 31. xD

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHahaHHAHAHAHAHAHA. When colleges see this, you will have brought down everyone’s chances in your school. Your school is unprecedented in grade inflation if this happens.

How easy is your school?

I’m sorry about your scores. It is probably even worse if you’re valedictorian as of right now. Just retake it, but some people are just not good test takers. It isn’t really fair how they base everything on ACT and SAT. Just try again, you should do better.

…dude, people should stop being asses. Some people struggle with standardized testing. The OP was looking for advice, not insults. Damn.

" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHahaHHAHAHAHAHAHA. When colleges see this, you will have brought down everyone’s chances in your school. Your school is unprecedented in grade inflation if this happens. "

I lost my Val status. I’m #2 or #3. Mono brought down my grades. I sort’ve didn’t try as hard in a couple classes when I was really sick and then I had very very few grades. Teachers didn’t want me to have to “make up a TON of work”… and only gave me a few assignments that I couldn’t bring my grade up enough. By the way, everyone is just trying to graduate at my school. If they end up at FGCU they’ll be lucky. Most kids here shoot for USF or even (dare I say) UCF with just high hopes. So, hey, keep laughing!! ;)

" How easy is your school? "

It depends. The AP Courses are very challenging but I’ve only taken one. I passed both semesters with an “A”, one with an 89.8 that got rounded up, and the next much higher. The schools’ regular and honors’ classes are mostly jokes, but it depends on the teacher. Chem Honors and Geometry Honors weren’t the hardest classes I’ve taken, but, the hardest to get A’s in, for example…

Not a val anymore, and you’re right. People judged certainly on my ACT scores. I have a migraine condition that worsens when I’m sick, and an astigmatism in my right eye. It’s not an excuse, I know I need work on reading, but, I think it played some role as a 17 is certainly below expectations, in my opinion. But, people can think whatever they want about me, my ACT scores when I’m not feeling up to it will never define how hard of a worker, smart of a student I am. Thanks for the advice.

Someone down to earth. Thanks.

Honestly, don’t ever listen to CC’er, he is arrogant, ignorant and just full of himself. He honestly need to learn that his arrogance is going to get him. And a lot of people would agree with me. He needs to stop ■■■■■■■■ and learn to stop being arrogant. Just look at his posts and threads that he made comments on.

I’m sorry about your test scores but there is hope. Get a Barrons book, read it over twice, take a lot of practice tests, and then retake the ACT in the fall. Seriously the Barrons ACT book (and the Barrons ACT 36 book) helps a lot. And I have full belief that you can get 30+. Just study hard for the test. Good luck

Just because I’m me…

NEW ACT SCORES

Composite - 28.25
Eng - 29
Mat - 32
Rea - 24
Sci - 28

Yayuhhhhhhhhhh
They’ll increase for October too. lol. All the negative comments on this thread were inspiration, I guess  If only I could read… a 30 would become realistic.

^ Way to go!!!

Not to be mean but reading kind of is the easiest section. When I took the ACT in 7h grade I got a 31 in reading. You’re good at math though in 7th grade I got like a 19 in math (but that’s probably partially because by then I hadn’t even started pre-algebra)

Reading is too difficult… I’m proud of my 17 to 24 though.

I am re-taking in hopes of somehow coming up with a 30 but the ARTS/LITERATURE two passages are killing me… I did fine on the social studies/science passages.

Science is just luck… especially with the harsh curve. I’ve got English down!

Congrats on your new scores!
I hate reading also, I haven’t taken the ACT yet (I am in October) but I could guess right now it will be one of my lowest scores

My strategy of skipping the first passage has increased my score… It’s prose fiction and it’s so hard to understand. Generally the longest as well.

OR, maybe you could not graduate early and just graduate with the rest of your class, and during that time you can raise your ACT score and live up to your title of valedictorian, right? And maybe you can get into an even better college!

Or maybe the fact that by the end of this year I will be done with 1 full year of college, which is a program only seniors can participate in. If I were to stay (I’m not allowed to, had to sign a paper saying I AM graduating this year) another year, then I would have my AA degree anyway. Then transfer. Sooo, whatever.

I’m not valedictorian now, anyways. My grades dropped when I got Mono and I fell to #2, oh poor me. With the class of 2010 I’m not ranked against so I can’t tell. I’m still ranked against my 2011 class for admission purposes (cool huh).

You don’t know my personal situation, and don’t think I haven’t heard what you’ve said before. Don’t think I haven’t thought about it all either.

Raise my ACT score? I’m sorry but there’s no way I’m getting above a 30. I’m not that smart. I worked my ass off for a 28 and that’s about as good as I’ll get I think… maybe a 29-30 next time.

Whoa dude you might as well go to community college.

^jerk.

and do you know what the average ACT score is for UoF? Since you said that’s where you want to go?

Also, why do you want to graduate as a sophomore? :/

I’m graduating as a junior this thread was from last year.
The average for UF is a 27.
It might not be my first choice though.

Ahhh, gotcha. Well looks like you have a better shot at getting into the schools you want. : )
And yeah, even in a year its easy to change your decision. Make sure to tour first and look into what each schools specialties are and if they correspond with your intended major (if you haven’t already).
