Draw a lot

Do LOTS of still lifes…you need to gain technical skill (perspective, proportion…) before ypu use that skill to draw what’s in your head.

Try different mediums (do pastels, then paint…anything really)

There are good art books that can teach you how to draw in an anatomically correct way…get those
…other than that, you can copy artwork from the masters (Da Vinci…) to hone skills. You should do a BFA along with an academic undergrad degree ( just in case you find out later that this isn’t your thing…or that you like money…)

omg do Dürer. imo his drawings (etchings really) are the best technically

Oh and also…art camps = amazing

I love those etchings!!.. I don’t get how he carved that much detail…

lol yeah, they’re amazing (from a prospective Art History major with no artistic ability whatsoever lol)

Melancholia is my fave :b

Pshh, you don’t need to have artistic ability to appreciate! Lol

haha that is good to know. I was afraid that those RISD kids would make fun of me :o

You’re going to RISD!!! Or wait, maybe you ment that the RISD kids here would art knowledge rape you…hmmm

lol no; Brown, and RISD is next door lol. If I ever had to take any art classes there to complete a major, I’d be doomed

Nahh, I know some RISD ppl… They’re crazy awsome…if you had classes there they would be hard but probably lots of fun!

Their mascot made me think they were just crazy lol
