Me: White Mule
H: Goat
D: Demon Deacon
S: Goat

My son was a Warrior, then a Crimson Knight for a year, and now a Big Red (Bear).

D will be attending NYU…that makes her a “Violet” ( not a big sports school, you think)

Well, the Leopard and Engineer are expecting at the moment, within a week or two they will be proud parents of a Lynx, or a Mule, a Bear, or maybe even a Scot. We decided not to find out beforehand…

DH…Wolf(pack)
Me…Pirate
S1…Wolf(pack)
S2…Pirate

It’s a good thing we didn’t have a third kid!

I have a Mountain Hawk and a Huskie.

fireflyscout, did I see that your S is thinking about Rose-Hulman. Absolutely my favorite mascot. They are the Fighting Engineers with an elephant as a mascot. My D had to get a t-shirt from there.

Seminole here; son of a Gator (he could not help it). Wife is a Seminole as well. Daughters are both Seminoles. Brothers are Seminoles, Engineer, Gator, Hoya (what’s a Hoya??) and a Trojan (ha-ha).

My husband was a Mountaineer, complete with gun that he shoots! Very handy for celebrating goals and shooting the other mascot. My daughter was a Panther and my son is apparently between Mascot’s. They were the Maroon’s but in the Spring they are going to unveil a more traditional one. Both kids started off Spartans.

I volunteered to be the mascot (a gopher) one day at the U where I work. You would not believe how rank a giant gopher head smells.

I now have more respect for mascot humans.

To my knowledge, neither my undergraduate nor graduate schools had a mascot. I’d have to go back to HS, where we were Rams. H was a Battling Bishop, a Hornet, and a Spartan, and ultimately a Bobcat/Violet. (He went to a lot of schools! I had to google. Edit: Google also reveals that the U of C apparently does have a mascot: the Phoenix. Who knew? Judging by the comments, hardly anyone.)

S is another Big Green. We participated with a friend in a trivia contest in which the teams give themselves funny–usually salacious–names on the night before we took him off to college, and the friend named our team the Anthropomorphic Kegheads in his honor.

S1 was a Lancer in HS, and is now a Spartan. Not sure if that is a promotion or not…

S2, also a Lancer, will be a Blue Jay in the fall. Not easy to take, as I was a Cardinal in HS, and crosstown rivals were the Blue Jays.

H and I are Miners

D: Red Devil
Me: Wolverine, Gopher (I just have the hardest time getting behind the Gopher after all those years as a Wolverine…)
Her dad: Wolverine, Hoya

Yes, what exactly is a Hoya? Inquiring minds want to know.

S is currently a Pelican in HS. There is one mascot suit (that looks a lot more like an eagle than a pelican, but whatever) – it is absolutely disgusting inside. S’s friend, who dressed up in the suit for the past 2 years, now refuses to go near it.

TheGFG and Rachacha, as you know DH and I are Leopards as well, and so is DS.

DD thinks she wants to be a Huskie, but we won’t know for another year.

Both kids were Panthers in HS. I was a Gael in HS, DH was a Crusader. (A Gael is kind of like a Celt. A scottish/irish thing involving plaid…)

What do Lehigh alum call themselves - Engineers, or Mountain Hawks? The dangers of changing your mascot… long term identity crisis.

S is a Gamecock(GO *****!!!)
D was a SunDevil- ASU(undergrad) and is now some kind of bear I think??(Wash U PhD)though from what she says you wouldnt even know the school has teams
D’s boyfriend is a Miner…as in Missouri Tech-Rolla (are there other Miner teams?)

In Elementary school I was an…Eagle, I think (yes, my Elementary school had a mascot).
Bruin in Middle School.
RAM in High School (Robbie and Millie…Robert A. Millikan HS. We had two rams at each game, one blue and one gold. ^_^)

Now I’m a Seawolf. Apparently it’s a character from a Jack London novel, who lived/grew up(?) in the area. We used to be the Cossacks, but for some reason that was deemed politically incorrect. So now it’s Lobo the Seawolf! :D

Argh…it was the Aboriginal Kegheads. And we won. :)

My son’s friend went from being a Roughrider in HS to a Trojan in college.

I’m sorry if you don’t get the joke (and even sorrier if you do :-)

S1 is a Lyon (with a Y)
S2 is a Huskie

S1: Aztec. That’s cool. Human sacrifice and all that. Pretty threatening mascot guy, too.

S2 & D: Gauchos. And let me vent, please: “Gauchos” is The. Lamest. Mascot. Name. Ever. EVER! Can we please find an Argentinian-American Rights League somewhere to take offense so that name can be changed? Seriously. Some things are Just Not Right. “Gauchos.” <shudder></shudder>
